Canal House Bangkok - Whole house on Mon canal.
Entire antique canal house located on Mon canal on the Thonburi side (old capital city) of Bangkok. You will live amongst the locals here. Walking distance to: ❤ Itsaraphab MRT subway station - 15mins by walk ★Wat Arun - 10 minutes ★Wat Prakaw (Grand Palace) - 20 minutes And plenty of amazing street food nearby. Experience Bangkok like a local at Canal House Bangkok, your home in the historic heart of the Thai capital. Our city is famous for its buzz and bustle. But before there were streets and cars, there were canals and boats. Stay at our traditional two-bedroom canal-front house to soak up the atmosphere of real Bangkok, with local temples, ceremonies and street-food on your doorstep, but just minutes from some of the city’s most famous sights. Walk to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, in ten minutes. Awake your senses with the sights, sounds and smells of Wang Lang street market. And from there, take a cross-river ferry to the Grand Palace, Wat Po and much more. It’s also just a short ride by taxi to connect with the Skytrain at Wong Wian Yai. You must of course hop on a long-tail boat to explore the backwaters of the canals through Thonburi, the ancient capital. But we also recommend that you sit back and relax on our terrace as you watch Bangkok flow by. You will sometimes hear whirr of the boat engine during daylight hours (the longtails stop overnight) – it is all part of canal life. And enjoy a free reptile show as monitor lizards patrol the waters and sun themselves (don’t worry, you may see them devouring fish, but they are not interested in us). These canals were once Bangkok’s thoroughfares, but people moved away as streets were built and the love affair with the car spread from America to Asia. Now Bangkokians are re-discovering their roots here - and so can you. I was born just a few minutes away and my dream is for you to experience the Bangkok where I grew up. As we say at Canal House, local life lives here! Guests have exclusive access to the whole house and all amenities, which include: ★ Private balcony ★ Thai triangle pillows ★ Lounge chairs This is a great chance to meet locals. I am usually free in the morning so come walk and grab some local street food with me. The house sits on stilts on the canal, just like traditional Thai houses. From 7am-7pm you'll see longtail boats passing by, offering a fantastic opportunity to watch local life. In our backyard is a local temple called “Wat nakklang” . There are two elementary schools inside the temple so in the morning you will experience school life. In the evening, you'll get to see the daily outdoor aerobic dance workout - feel free to join them! There are plenty of good local restaurants within walking distance and you will eat like a local. Less than a 5 minute walk to nearby parking area and the Main Street for a taxi or tuktuk ride. Additional interests nearby: ★ 10 min walk to the world famous Wat Arun(temple of dawn) ★ 15-20 min walk to Wat Phra Kaew (Grand Palace) and Wat Pho (reclining Buddha temple) all by foot. ★ 10 min taxi to BTS sky train Wongvienyai Station ★ 15 min walk to Wanlang Market and Siriraj Hospital ★ 10-15 min taxi to Khaosan Road (Backpacker's paradise) Experience local life on Thonburi side of Bangkok.
