Languages spoken: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese I live in the ground floor flat but I may occasionally travel for a day or two. Interaction with guests I will be available to help with any questions or problems or D. Elisabete, in my absence. You can find two cafés, a gas station and a mini-market within 5 min. walk, just down the street. There are several river beaches, very popular in the summer, offering cafés and restaurants. You can also find good restaurants in the surrounding villages where during summertime many fairs, markets and religious festivities take place, among which the most popular is the Festa da Nª Sra. da Confiança, precisely in Pedrogão Pequeno, in September. From the balcony, you can follow the evening procession, on the 7th September, starting in the village church and going up the hill to the Nª Sra. da Confiança church, with people in two lines holding candles and singing religious songs followed by Her image carried on shoulders. It is close to Pedrogão Grande, just across the river, and to Sertã (15 min. drive) where all kinds of facilities are available. Therefore, you will need a car to visit all the villages and touristic spots nearby as well as to easily get to Lisbon (195km), Porto (180km) or Coimbra (68km) through motorways (A1, A23, A13, IC8). This is the perfect spot to take a one-week relaxation break while travelling through the country, allowing visits to nearby Unesco sites: Coimbra, Batalha, Tomar, Fatima, Obidos, Alcobaça, Nazare, etc. Just up the hill, within a 20 minute walk, you can appreciate an impressive view over the Cabril dam whereas, if you walk across the village and down the hill, you can find a Philipine bridge, which may have replaced a Roman bridge, as well as a river pond with astonishing landscape where you can enjoy the day swimming, having a picnik, canooing and fishing. Walking up and down the hills and across the woods and fields or take organized trail tours, and bird watching, can be pleasant activities in the area.
