Stunning town house overlooking Gibraltar.

Situated in the Upper Town area of historic Gibraltar. Octopus House is a world class home, in a world class location. With uninterrupted views across the Straits of Gibraltar towards Morocco and Spain you will be transfixed by the beauty day and night, in all weather. Our completely redesigned and refurbished town house is split over two levels on the upper slopes of Castle Steps giving the interior spaces breathtaking architectural proportion. Our home is the perfect choice. Please be aware that if coming by foot one has to be able climb flights of stairs to get the the Upper Rock areas of Gibraltar. Within our home you will find all the style and comfort that you need for a business trip, holiday retreat or an extended stay. Everything has been considered, from the thoughtfully designed fully equipped kitchen, which includes quooker on tap boiling water, soda stream for carbonating drinks, and all other utensils and appliances needed to create beautiful meals. There is 'Sonos' integrated sound system throughout the house which can connect you to an infinate stream of music. The wrap around upper terraces are perfect places to sunbathe, snooze and entertain. The sunrise and sunsets are the thing of dreams. Hours can be spent gazing out over the water towards Africa and Spain... (Worth noting that you don't get traffic noise in this house) The living room and studio are versatile lounging and working spaces. All TV, WIFI etc is availble for use by guests. There is a log burning stove and we can supply local olive wood. Three bedrooms, sleeping 6. (A day bed in the studio can accomodate a 7th guest). The bedrooms are connected by a plant filled balcony which gives more privacy, and a quite space to relax and swing in the hammock... One large family bathroom and one ensuite shower room to the master bedroom. There is a fully equiped utilty room (washer/dryer etc) on rear upper terrace. The most important thing to note about Octopus House is the step access. This house is not suitable for guests with significantly reduced mobilty. The architectural nature of the maze of streets and passages in the Upper Town district means walking up steps is the norm. Our house is positioned half way up Castle Steps which leads to the Moorish Castle. One can drive to the top of the steps and walk down, but inevitibly staying in this amazing house means walking, up and down flights of stairs. Free parking is available in our area. However I would suggest doing things by foot and bus in Gibraltar. Rent a car for trips in to Spain and to the beaches around Tarifa. Guests will have the entire property to themselves. I will communicate with you from the moment you make the booking enquiry. It will be a pleasure to let you in to the house and to get you acquanted with anything you need to know. We can arrange a supermarket delivery for you prior to your arrival. Catering and cleaning services can also be arranged during your stay. This is a fascinating part of Gibraltar. You can look down over the city and the ships in the bay below you, watch the swifts and seagulls soaring in the sky around and beneath you. The neighbouring buldings are an eclectic mix of old blocks, still inhabited by the original Gibraltarian families over the last centuries. There are older buildings mixed with the odd refurbished building like ours. It makes for a great dynamic in this tight urban grain. Looking above you up the rock you then realise how vaste the natural park of Gibraltar is. The forest and paths are amazing to explore on foot. It is a steep and satisfying climb. Our favourite route is across the suspension bridge, up the incredible Mediterranean Steps and and over the Skydeck...before getting back to the terrace in time for cocktail hour and the sunset. We are keen sailors and spend as much time on the water as possible. To sail around Gibraltar for the afternoon, watching swordfish jump and pods of dolphins race around the boat is so beautiful. We like to anchor off Catalan bay and swim there. I highly recommend getting on the water during your stay. For shopping I use the supermarkets, Morrisons and Eroski. Deliveries can be arranged from Eroski supermarket (I strongly suggest the delivery and can help you arrange it all). I also love the small produce market near Casemate Square, it is traditional and sells wonderful Spanish and Moroccan fresh fish, meat and produce. This house requires a certain level of fitness. If you know Gibraltar you will know the steps... I would suggested leaving the car parked and using the bus and walking. I can give you the local bus routes and there is a stop right at the top of Castle Steps (1 minute walk) which can get you down to main street and from there you can access all the beaches, marinas etc. I will also provide taxi numbers and takeaway/delivery recommendations. Our favourite bar/cafe is The Kasbar, a little further down Castle Steps. Cool and great food. There are some good restaurants in Gibraltar and I will compile a list and leave it in the house. The truth is that Octopus House is so fantastic, relaxing and accomodating that you will probably want to stay on the terrace and bring Gibraltar to you! It is a significant climb to the house. As most of Gibraltar old town is on the slope above Main Street, climbing the stairs to the house must be taken in to account. I strongly recommend getting a taxi from the airport with your bags.
