Your chance to stay and connect with the grounds on the sacred Mauna Kea. THE FARM - Yes, it's a farm in the tropics teaming with all kinds of life so expect to be close to nature and see and hear wild animals. None of them are poisonous or dangerous, but if the sight/sounds of wildlife upsets you then this probably isn't a good fit. Farm life in Hawaii is one of the most peaceful and beautiful experiences. Our farm is located on the slopes of Mauna Kea with nothing hindering the gorgeous ocean and sunrise views. We grow coffee on the farm and provide chemical free homegrown and hand processed Hawaiian coffee to our guests. We also have free range organic chicken eggs that we happily sell to our guests. Avocados, star fruit, bread fruit, lychees, longans and bananas are some of our fruiting trees. The trees fruit in particular seasons and it's up to the guests to explore the property and pick any fruit they see depending on the time of the year. Couldn't get more local than that! There's a nice whale watching deck on the farm just a little stroll away from the cottage where you can lounge for hours staring at the ocean, enjoying the cool breeze, getting lots of sun and sometimes watch a whale breach. Make yourself a nice cup of hot chocolate and hangout at our deck for stargazing at night. The milky way galaxy is fully visible in our sky due to very little light pollution. You will most likely see and wish upon a shooting star! If you're visiting in August, the Perseid meteor shower will take your breath away. There is also a private access to some secluded waterfalls from the property. You can get adventurous and hike down and spend the day exploring and swimming in waterfalls. We keep the outdoor lighting at night to the minimum on the farm to reduce light pollution to observe the milky way. THE COTTAGE The cottage has a main room with a California King sized bed and a TV for entertainment. A smaller side room with a sofa bed, coffee table and a small kitchenette can also be used to sleep 2 kids or 1 adult. Both rooms have views of the ocean form the windows . A kids Pack ‘N Play is also provided upon request which makes it perfect for couples or a family with a baby. There is no door between the rooms. The private Lanai (Balcony) with a table and chairs is perfect for eating and drinking while soaking in the sun and watching the ships sail by. The kitchenette has a hotplate, microwave, a mini refrigerator, Coffee maker, toaster and an electric kettle. The kitchen is also stocked plates, cups, bowls, spoons knives and forks, cork screw/bottle openers, pots and pans etc. A barbecue grill is also available upon request. We recommend drinking bottled water at all times due to presence of rat lungworm disease on the Island. Bathroom is stocked with shampoo, bodywash, handsoap & a fresh set of towels. Washer/dryer with soap is also available and is next to the main house. (charges apply) We are about 600ft above sea level so we do not need a/c. The fan in the room is enough to keep it cool. Camping option is also available. I live close by and am always available to help with anything at all. I can also arrange massage appointments, so sacred energy healing sessions for pain, depression, anxiety and stress. We also provide yoga sessions, meditation sessions & 3 meals a day for an extra charge if you just need a relaxation retreat. Papa'aloa is a cute little town, only 30 minutes away from hilo airport. We have a cool country store, Bar & cafe only 3 minutes away from us where you can almost get anything you need for your stay here. The food and drinks at the bar and restaurant to die for. Must try the poke bowl! There is also live music every evening. We have a community pool near by as well if you wish to go for a swim. The laupahoehoe point is only 5 minutes drive away. It is one of the most gorgeous spot on the Hamakua coast. Zipline, the famous akaka falls & tropical botanical gardens are only a few minute drive away. Hele On Bus Stop is 10 minutes walk away. It's always better to have a car though. Please make sure your mobile photos and videos sync is disabled as we live in the country side and internet struggles with photos/videos uploads. During summer months due to less rain we try to conserve water since we are water catchment system and we appreciate if our guests take that into consideration as well. We also recommend bringing your own drinking water. It is filtered but we cannot guarantee drinking quality. If you do not have your own drinking water please let us know and we will be more than happy to provide it :) Above all we try to give our guests the utmost respect that they deserve and expect the same from them.
