Huthwaite Grange was built for the owner of the internationally important Wortley Top Forge which stands opposite. The Grade 1 Listed Top Forge dates back to the seventeenth century and is the world’s oldest surviving water powered iron forge. The house is a great place to get together with friends and family. We can often accomodate early and late checkout so please do ask about that when you make your enquiry. Huthwaite Grange is a magnificent Georgian house which stands in its beautiful grounds. The house has just completed a painstaking restoration to a standard befitting of such a historically important building. All original feature have been restored using historically accurate techniques and materials while modern services, insulation, solar power and underfloor heating have been added but hidden from view. Our bedrooms all offer a flexible layout so we can accommodate any combination of single people, children or couples. Guests have the run of the house and the acre grounds, he house is not lived in so all storage space is also available to use. We will be on the end of the phone should you need to speak to us at any point. The nearest neighbours are family so they are also generally available to help you out should you need anything. The closest pub is the Bridge Inn which is around 300 meters away and is a traditional country pub which serves excellent cask ales and good pub grub. The house is set a short distance outside Wortley, a small village providing post office, tea rooms and a pub (The Wortley Arms) which does a roaring trade in really good pub food. Also in the village is Wortley Hall which is well worth a visit and contains the Ruddy Duck restaurant which serves food from the Hall’s own kitchen garden. The house sits on the edge of the peak district; you would struggle to find better walking, cycling and horse riding than in these parts. There is a local bus service that passes the house but a car is necessary to get around the local area. There is space for four cars to park in the grounds.
