Our secluded property sits 1km outside the charming village of Cushendall, overlooking the bay. The house retains many of its original features whilst being fully modernised. It lies at the heart of the scenic Glens of Antrim, perfect for cycling & walking, exploring the Causeway Coast & Game of Thrones locations. We fully appreciate our property is slightly more expensive than others in the area but there's a reason. We believe you get what you pay for and know you won't be disappointed. Check us out on Insta @moneyvarthouse Whilst secluded and peaceful, the property is just a short walk from the village of Cushendall. We've recently refurbished the kitchen and the private garden to the rear. There's a private porch and shared grounds to the front. We like to think of the property as being a home away from home and we ask that you treat it as respectfully as we do. It's our second home so we pay a great deal of attention to how it's furnished, cleaned and cared for. Our guests seem to appreciate it. The house includes an extensive library and DVD collection. This is not a house for those who want to be in the thick of it. It's quiet, rural and peaceful. It's perfectly located for those interested in cycling, walking, golfing, beaches, wildlife, nature and photography. It is also close to a number of HBO Game of Thrones filming locations as well as the Causeway Coast tourist sites. There are two play parks within a short walking distance. A 9 hole par 3 course is just 1km away. Our property is one of four private houses created from the renovation of the original Moneyvart House, built in 1865. It is very important to us that our neighbours' properties and privacy is respected at all times. The gardens immediately in front of each property are private to those houses. The larger 'meadow' between the gardens and the boundary walls are shared but please respect the plantings, trees and fencing. (To protect the plantings, ball games are not permitted in this area.) The areas around the cottages and the associated parking are also private. The grounds are planted with mature trees, many hundreds of years old, as well as holly, honeysuckle, mint, hydrangea, fuchsia, ash, hawthorn, wild garlic and raspberries. The surface in the meadow and planted grounds can be uneven and care should be taken to avoid injury. Please respect all wildlife. It is not uncommon to see buzzards, Irish hare, red squirrel and rabbits in the area. At sea there are dolphin and seals and a beautiful puffin colony on nearby Rathlin Island. The property is set within a large area of agricultural land and it is imperative that guests do not venture into farmers' private lands. There are plenty of public roads and pathways that provide for beautiful walks for the most laid back or those who wish to be challenged. Local history can be experienced at the nearby Layde church ruins and graveyard, Oisian's Grave (megalithic tomb) or the Neolithic prometary fort on the top of Lurigeithan, the commanding mountain standing tall over the village of Cushendall. We'll finish with a secret (Website hidden by Airbnb) sure to enjoy a breakfast on the front porch in the heat of the morning sun. 4 bedrooms. 2 Double Rooms (1 with King Size) 2 Triple Rooms. Cot & travel cot. Changing mat and potty. 2 bathrooms, 1 ensuite with shower. Other has a bath and shower. 1 additional toilet cubicle. All showers pressurised with mains pressure. 1 main living area with newly fitted open plan kitchen with four ring induction hob, electric oven, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Utility Room includes washing machine, tumble dryer and microwave. Multi-fuel stove. Oil fired central heating. Unfortunately, due to the age of the building, the property is not suitable for wheelchair access. Porch to front with furniture. Furniture in garden to rear. Car parking is restricted to 2 cars immediately in front of the house but additional vehicles can be parked at the foot of the lane. We live about 50km away but we're available on the end of the phone if needed. In all our times renting we've only ever needed to attend to the property once for a minor problem and it was dealt with the same day. Our wonderful neighbours are kind enough to watch the property, ensure you receive the keys and report any problems to us. The house is set within its own secluded grounds surrounded by wildlife, trees and wild flowers. It's not unusual to spot buzzards, bats, red squirrel and hares around the house and dolphins and seals in the local bay. The beach and children's playground, bars and restaurants are all within a short walk. Cushendall is a 1 hr drive by car from Belfast or 45 mins drive from Belfast International Airport and Larne Port. Please contact us to receive directions from where you are travelling from. There is a limited bus service to Cushendall from Belfast 219 from Belfast Europa Bus Station to Ballymena then the 150 from Ballymena to Cushendall. 256 from Belfast Europa Bus Station to Larne then the 252 from Larne to Cushendall. Journey times are between 2h and 2.5hrs. The house is a 1.5km walk from the bus stop. The area is perfect for cycling with a range of routes for the leisure, amateur and professional cyclist. The area served as part of the Giro D'Italia 2014. Nearby: Great cycling routes for all abilities and skill levels. Sourdough baking classes at Ursa Minor Bakehouse.
