Koonora

Koonora is a lovely, modern self-contained 2-bedroom apartment with beautiful views over Brisbane Water. Small, well behaved pets (and children!) are welcome (the property has an enclosed, sheltered courtyard). Everything you need for a delicious breakfast (and a quiet drink on the deck) is waiting for you. The property is a recently renovated self-contained apartment underneath the main residence with lovely views from the spacious deck. The kitchen is fully equipped and fitted with new appliances, and the luxury bathroom has twin showers and a big bath. There are two bedrooms, each with an adjoining sunroom, opening onto the courtyard. Each bedroom has a queen sized bed, there is a double sofa bed in the living room, and we have a porta cot and two comfortable airbeds (a single and a double). The living space comprises a warm and inviting lounge area with large screen TV and sound bar, a light, bright sunroom/dining area and a big deck overlooking the pool, and the view. We have a portable high chair if you need one. From the moment you arrive you can relax. Curl up in front of the TV with a cup of tea or coffee (and a little treat), or grab a drink to enjoy on the deck while the sun goes down. Let us know whether you want red, white or sparkling wine and we’ll have it chilled and waiting for you (well not the red, obviously), and we’ll even pop some beer in the fridge. The kitchen is stocked with pantry basics, and the ingredients for a delicious cooked breakfast. We will customise the breakfast hamper for you – white, wholegrain or brown bread, light or full cream milk, vegan, vegetarian… just let us know your preferences. All linen is provided, including Turkish towels for the pool. The apartment, courtyard and deck is yours to enjoy alone. You can park in the garage if you want (not suitable for large, high vehicles though!). You share the garden and pool with us (but we will leave you there in peace!) We do not use the front driveway or garage while we have guests (we have rear lane access), so it's all yours. We live upstairs and work from home, and although we travel a fair bit, we are usually here to welcome you, and help any way we can. The apartment is completely private, with its own separate entrance. We come and go via the back lane so the driveway is all yours! You can often find us on the verandah at sunset with a drink, and you are welcome to join us. Blackwall is a quiet suburban area, but close to beaches, shops, bars and restaurants. Ettalong Beach village - shops, cafes and restaurants, weekend markets, cinema and Ettalong Diggers’ Club. Ettalong Beach is particularly good for children as the water is shallow, and there's a playground and cafe/kiosk. From here you can catch the ferry to Palm Beach. Woy Woy – shops, cafes and restaurants, railway station (south to Sydney, north to Newcastle), fish co-op, pelican feeding, and several good pubs. You can walk to Woy Woy along the waterside path / cycleway (35-40 minutes). Peninsula Leisure Centre with a gym and indoor pool, and group yoga, Pilates and exercise classes. (10-minute walk) Umina Beach – good surfing, lovely walks, cafes, restaurants and shops and supermarkets. Slightly further to Patonga, Killcare, Avoca and Erina Fair shopping mall. There is a bus (the number 64) 2 minutes walk down to Orange Grove Road with services to Woy Woy station and Ettalong every half hour on weekdays. There are regular trains to Sydney and Newcastle from Woy Woy (the trip to Sydney goes through some beautiful countryside and over the Hawkesbury River). Catch the ferry from Ettalong to Palm Beach for lunch (or a glimpse of the Home and Away cast and beach!) You will need a car to explore further afield. We hope we have included everything you need for a great stay. This is our first time hosting but we have many years of experience as guests, so consider ourselves pretty good at creating a place you will love to stay in. In fact, if there is anything you need that we haven’t provided, please let us know. We have set check-in and check-out times but there is usually room for negotiation - just send us an enquiry and we will see what we can do! And while we would prefer you to stay two or more nights (you won't want to leave, I promise!) if you just need the one night, please ask.
