Cobblers Cottage is an old cottage in the farming community of Sliddery overlooking the Mull of Kintyre in the Southwest of the Island of Arran. Originally it was the shoemakers cottage in the village, along with the blacksmith, butcher, joiners, bakers, grocers, post office and a school. These days Sliddery consists mostly of houses and farms with one hardware shop called Sliddery Supplies which stocks all sorts for homes, farms and gardens. I'm offering a private bedroom with a comfy kingsize bed, a set breakfast provided in a small fridge, along with a kettle, tea and coffee facilities. The room has en-suite bathroom, a small entrance hall in which to hang coats - it may not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties -It has its own private entrance that allows guests increased privacy and the ability to come and go freely. There is a self check in key box. The room is designed to accommodate a happy couple or a single traveller. When I'm at home I will be available to help with any questions or problems that arise. Please don't hesitate to ask. Cobblers Cottage is situated just off the A7841 main road at the foot of a steep hill which leads to the village of Corriecravie and then on to Blackwaterfoot - a ten minute drive away, where you'll find 2 Hotels, one with a swimming pool and other facilities, a garage with petrol pumps, a grocers shop, a take away sandwich shop, a bakers and the only remaining butchers on the island. There is also a newsagents and just along the road there is a stunning beach and the very famous 12 hole golf and tennis club, along with an excellent "tee-room", which serves dinner in the summer months. In the opposite direction, just one mile down the road from the house, is the new Lagg Distillery and another mile on is the beautiful Lagg Hotel and Velo Cafe, Lagg being the oldest hotel on the island. Past that is the village of Kilmory with the Kilmory Hall and bunkhouse and the famous creamery which sells wonderful cheese. Follow a track down to another lovely beach with a wooded path leading past a historic cairn on the way. There are two bus stops on the main road that runs past the house ,the buses are geared towards the boat timetable. You can buy a ticket that will take you right round the island .A car , motor bike or bicycle would definitely enhance your stay - private parking available at the cottage. I can suggest walks around Sliddery and further afield.
