Part of a pretty Gascon farmhouse in stunning location
Part of a tastefully renovated, pretty stone farmhouse, this light and spacious self-contained accommodation is situated in the heart of the beautiful rolling Gascony countryside. Attached to the owner's property, but completely independent, with its own private entrances, it is set in a large mature garden, with superb unspoilt views of the surrounding countryside, and splendid views of the Pyrenees to the South. The accommodation is at the end of a no-through lane, with no passing traffic. It is the ideal place to enjoy a relaxing holiday away from it all, yet the pretty medieval village of Marciac, with its assortment of interesting shops and restaurants, its theatre, cinema and lake, is only 3 minutes’ drive away. Bustling markets with fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables can be found every day of the week at any number of pretty local villages. Guests are welcome to pick fresh, seasonal organic fruit and vegetables from the garden, at no charge. For music lovers, the property is perfectly placed for the prestigious Jazz Festival in Marciac, when the whole village is alive with restaurants, bars, stalls, exhibitions and performers, and the plentiful parking is free of charge. The nearby villages of Mirande and Vic Fezensac host a Country and Western Festival and a vibrant Latino Festival. For wine lovers, there are interesting vineyards and tastings in this wine growing region. The area is famous also for its Armagnac, foie gras and duck dishes. For the more active, a large, open-air swimming pool and tennis courts can be found in Marciac. There is an 18 hole golf course at the impressive Pallanne Chateau 10 minutes’ drive away, with reasonable green fees and a good restaurant. Fishing opportunities are plentiful in the nearby rivers and lakes, or simply enjoy the unspoilt natural beauty of the region by bike or on foot. For excursions further afield, this is a good base for trips to Spain, the Pyrenees, Lourdes, Biarritz or Bordeaux. The accommodation is fully double glazed, with a large, high quality kitchen, a comfortable dining/sitting area, with television and Blu-ray player, a modern shower room and separate toilet, all on the ground floor. Stairs lead up to a spacious double bedroom on the mezzanine, with double bed, large wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables and lamps. Patio doors on the ground floor lead out onto a large covered terrace, with table, chairs, sun loungers and barbecue, where you can dine al fresco or sip an aperitif (or two). Bicycles, a table tennis table, darts and board games are also available. The accommodation is well equipped, with dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, as well as all the usual kitchen and picnic items, iron and ironing board. Bedlinen and towels are provided. There is free parking, and free unlimited internet for your own devices.
