Sympathetically restored by its current owners, it provides a magical yet welcoming and comfortable holiday home. With its spiral staircases, painted beamed ceilings, stone vaulted rooms and thick walls Plane Castle is full of atmosphere. The period detail is everywhere and yet you have comfortable warm bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and splendid public rooms to make you comfortable. Perfectly positioned near Stirling, Plane Castle has ready access to Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as being an ideal spot to explore the north. Plane Castle has two buildings which can be rented separately or together. The Manor (built 1523) Sleeps10 The Manor House is an impressive self catering property over 3 floors. The ground floor has 3 vaulted rooms: Sitting room with TV and DVD Dining Room with seating for 10 people Medieval Kitchen which is fully equipped with all mod cons such as microwave, dishwasher, washing machine etc On the first floor you will find the impressive Great Hall dominated by a large , medieval, fireplace complete with carved stonework and 9ft stone mantelpiece. This is an excellent space for entertaining with ample space for seating, dining and dancing. Second floor reached via a spiral staircase. Jacobean Room – 4 poster bed with fold out single; Victorian Room – double bed with en suite and single bed; Edwardian Room- double bed shared bathroom with twin; Twin Room – shared bathroom with Edwardian bedroom The Tower Sleeps 8 Double Room Twin Room Family Gallery room AIrbnb Covid Policy currently forbids bookings for parties, events and weddings at Plane Castle Outdoors: Guests at Plane Castle can enjoy the magnificent gardens complete with ponds, rowing boat, ducks, sculptures and delightful planting of beech tunnels, wisteria walks and even a Hobbit House, and Wendy play-house! Neither of the properties is suitable for the less mobile tenant and the spiral stairs are steep. Young children should be supervised both on the stairs and in the garden where the water features are not fenced off The Castle sits within 3 acres of gardens with statues, ponds and even a hobbit hole with original medieval well We greet guests and will show you around the castle giving a history of this quirky castle. What more can we say Anyone staying here really needs to a car although we are happy to collect you from the local train station if you are just coming to stay and relax at the castle Because of the spiral stair cases and cobbled courtyard unfortunately we are not wheelchair friendly
