Minimalist mountain house in the Dolomites
Located in the Italian northern Region of Trentino, between Lake Garda and the Dolomites, this neo-rural house brings minimalist modernity to a secret mountain hamlet steeped with wilderness. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and woods, the accommodation is located 700m above the sea and offers endless opportunities for hiking, canyoning, climbing, cycling and skiing. While the more contemplative guest will enjoy the stunning views of Mount Pasubio at the heat of our 5 m tall masonry stove. This mountain-style stone house was built in 1811 and neglected since short after the 1960 so as many other properties in the valley. By completing renovation in 2016, thanks to the invaluable help of many local craftsmen, we brought new life to the house thus contributing to re-populating the hamlet of Perini (Little Pear), were the accommodation is located. We live abroad and can enjoy the house only sporadically. As remote as it might sound, Perini is only 10 minutes drive from Rovereto, home of the largest contemporary art museum in Italy (MART), a theatre, an internationally renown University and the unmissable Saturday morning farmers' market. While if you drive (or cycle) uphill, you will reach Folgaria in 20 minutes, with its famous 104 Km of ski slopes and the historical Cappelletti butchery. The property is on 3 floors and it is accessed through a large open kitchen and dining floor (2nd floor). Bedrooms and bathroom are on the floor below the open dining (1st floor), while lounge and studio are above (attic). It typically sleeps 5, but it can easily host up to 7 - using sofa bed in the attic. There is also a workshop area on the ground floor, a large terrace and a terraced garden. A maze of cellars is in the basement, with plenty of opportunities to find the right temperature for your Trento DOC Brut. Closest shops are in Noriglio (4km). There is also an option to order fresh eggs from our neighbours hens and source home-made focaccia bread baked at the local wood fired oven. If you are lucky you will get offered a bottle of wine from our wine-producing neighbours. If you really become friend, they will tell you where you can forage mushrooms and truffles. Freshly home cooked breakfast (5euro), evening meals (8euro) or a basket with local products payable during stay, please contact for more information and food options. If you have a car, there is a car park before the village piazza. You cant' miss it. You can park in the piazza for loading only, as it is closer to the house entrance door. The neighbourhood is a forest with direct access to several hikes. Walking: If you download the “AllTrails” App and search for Terragnolo you see plenty of hiking options, with maps. Two of the most popular and better signposted are the “Forra del Lupo” and the “52 Tunnel Road”. Although it says ‘hard’ on the app, we did them both with our 10 years old daughter. Avoid them at weekends as it can be busy.
