Located on the edge of the Yarra Valley, we are lucky to live in a cyclist or walkers haven. The local neighbourhood is based around the established historical village of Hurstbridge where an annual Wattle festival is held in the beginning of Spring. In this village you will find cafes, supermarkets, local artisans and all shops you'll ever need. Quaint but also plentiful are the markets, galleries, vineyards, restaurants and horse or bike riding trails not 5 minutes away. There are also many events held in the area throughout the year. Pack your dancing shoes - some major concerts are held at Rochford - Day on the Green. Mobs of kangaroos drop by everyday for a visit, often with joeys in their pouch. Our resident wedge tail eagles keep an eye from above, while kookaburras, black and white cockatoos (not the noisey ones) and many species of colourful parrots feed from our bird feeder on the veranda. You can catch wombats, echidnas and sugar gliders on special occasions. The odd tooth fairy has also been known to be visit. We are a short, 11 songs singalong (45 minutes) from Melbourne CBD. Or there is a train that stops at either Hurstbridge station (3km walking distance) or Eltham station 15 minutes drive. We have a walking trail out the front of our property and several accessible nature reserves nearby. You are welcome to use our many bikes. The street is well known in cycling circles so we are happy to see the many professionals and amateurs enjoying our beautiful and shady road.
