All of the rooms in "A House for Friends" are cosy, and all are a little different from each other. Room 5 is located on the top floor, and has a separate bathroom (but not great for very tall people as the roof is slanted). It is possible to separate the beds in this room also. The house is a very old and traditional guest house, meaning that even though it is quaint the stairs do creak meaning that we ask all of our guests to be home by 11pm and the house quiet by 12. We have 2 separate entrances, one for when you are skiing and one for the evenings. We have a heated ski and boot room, and slippers are provided. Guests are welcome to use the breakfast room for working or socialising. The kitchen is also a hub for chats. I am available in the kitchen most evenings and happy to make dinner reservations, and also give local tips. Saying that, it is entirely up to you as a guest as to how social you would like to be. Whilst I am always available, you are also more than welcome to not opt for that. I would say that we are somewhere between a boutique hostel and a hotel. It is really what you choose to make of it. Pettneu am Arlberg is a traditional village only 12 minutes from the international ski area of St Anton. The free busses are frequent in the morning and the afternoon. We boast some wonderful family owned and run restaurants and bars. The free ski busses go every 20 meters outside the front door in the morning, and also coming back in the afternoon. There are also paid busses and night busses outside daylight hours. If you know your bus timetables, then everything is really very easy! We try to make the house warm, cosy and welcoming. Having lived here for 12 years I am somewhat tuned in to all the goings on, and can recommend restaurants, skiing areas, other activities and so forth. If I do not know an answer, I am most likely to find one for you. As I feel that the house is what it is because of the guests, I do ask that people tell me a little about themselves when making an inquiry. This is because I foster an environment for relaxed travellers and skiers. If it is the "nightlife" aspect of St Anton that you are wanting to explore, then this may not be the right place. We also put a lot of effort into our breakfast: most of our products are local, and we pride ourselves on making sure that people have enough fuel for the day. We do not have cooking facilities, as the kitchen is used for breakfast preparation and socialising.
