Drimonas' Soul
Made with a lot of heart and soul, this renovated stone house reflects its own soul. It was built in the 18th century and is located in the charming little village of Drimonas, one of the most well kept villages on the west coast of Lefkada. It's a perfect location for those seeking tranquility. From Drimonas you have quick access by car to all the west coast beaches and other picturesque villages. Entering the house via the stone steps up to the first floor, you will first arrive in the spacious open plan kitchen/living/dining area with a ceiling fan and a fire place. Stairs lead to the lower level straight into the master with double bed and doors to outside terrace. Leading off the master are the second double bedroom and a bathroom with bath. This whole ground floor area stays cool in summer due to its traditional design where part of the house is built into the rock. Both the upper floor and the ground floor have direct access to a lovely, shady terrace with built-in barbecue and seating area overlooking the mountains and the sea in the distance. The picturesque mountain village of Drimonas has a cafe and a little 'kantina' which offers the traditional Greek grilled meats and pitas. In the surrounding villages, about 10-15 minutes' drive from Drimonas, you will find several tavernas and cafes offering great views and a variety of dishes. The nearest beach, Kathisma, is a 15 minute drive from the house, with the village and beach of Agios Nikitas only a few minutes further down the road. Along the west coast you will find many more beautiful beaches. The whole area is ideal most of the months but really busy July and August. There are no supermarkets or shops in Drimonas, only in the nearby villages, about 15 minutes' drive and in the town of Lefkada 30 minutes' drive. Due to the lack of public transport in the area your own transportation is needed. Parking is available around the village, a few minutes' walk from the house. The house cannot be reached by car as it is situated in the centre of the village and streets are narrow. It is best to rent a smaller car to explore this area and go to more secluded beaches The house is ideal for couples but not for parents with small children as there are open staircases. They might also find it tiring to carry lots of stuff that kids need and there is no parking outside the house. Parking is available around or outside the village within three to four minutes' walk. There are tavernas and restaurants with great views in the area but no shops or supermarkets in the village, only in the nearby villages within 15 minutes drive.
