Crane Isle Cabin
Come stay on the beautifully tranquil island of Tranholmen, part of the archipelago and only 25 minutes from Stockholm centre. This island loft cabin is simple and close to nature. Rest your head near to the sound of the trees and birdsong. The cabin hosts 2 people in a double futon up in the loft and 2 people on a sofa bed in the main space. The single bed can be closed off with curtains to provide darkness and privacy. There is indoor heating and flor heating in the bathroom to keep the cabin nice and toasty all through the winter months, as well as air con in the heat of July. The cabin is all yours as well as an outdoor space above to eat and relax. If you need anything during your stay, please message me and I will aim to get it over to you as soon as possible. I work during the day so will not be readily available until after 18:30. The island of Tranholmen (which means Crane Isle in English) is a small island of 150 permanent inhabitants which makes up the beginning of the Stockholm Archipelago. It is completely free of cars, and has a particular rural countryside feel with it's small paths and tucked away beaches. The island's inhabitants are a mix of nationalities and are very friendly and helpful. There are quite a few restaurants on neighbouring islands where you can pull up to by boat or ferry. We recommend Storholmen's Sjökrog which is easily reachable by ferry in 10 minutes. The Island also boasts one of the best midsummer celebrations in Stockholm which happens at the end of June as well as a local crafts Christmas market in December. Tranholmen is connected to the main land by ferry, or a floating bridge in the winter months. If you wish to travel into the city, the ferry takes only 15 minutes to reach Ropsten Tube Station which is a further 10 minutes by tube from the center of the city. You can also travel to the islands of Lidingö and Storholmen via the ferry as well as the nature reserve Frösvik, to do some wonderful hiking and catch views of wild boar. If you are feeling adventurous, you can row over to the northern mainland, or nearby peninsulas, with the complimentary row and peddle boats. Ask us about details. The loft space has a low ceiling and is accessed by a ladder. There is no shop on the Island so we encourage you to bring provisions with you. Please bring your own charcoals for the grill and empty it after use.
