Water Edge Retreat is in the most delightful & peaceful creek-side setting. Enjoy the main house for the heated indoor pool & slip down to the boathouse with stunning views. sip a gbalcony with canoes underneath that you can borrow. The wood burning stove helps combine the easy life of being off grid without tv or internet with the comforts of modern kitchen & bathroom. There is a small mezzanine sail loft accessed by a ship's ladder & a bed settee in the living room. Your perfect isolated retreat! Water Edge Retreat is an idyllic tranquil pad for a few days or a year. Looking over the water at high tide you can hear the water stir the dinghies below. Step down into one of the canoes and you can be immediately afloat. Get away from the hurly burly. We are virtually off grid- no land line and tv. Wifi only in the main house and intermittent mobile signal down by the creek. So time to chill, chat, read, play scrabble, go for a good walk or just wander up to the pubs. Recently built in a centuries old style Water Edge Retreat combines traditional and modern with grace.. In the boathouse you climb the ship's staircase to the snug mezanine double bed in the sail loft. (some agility required) Awake to the sight of the river below. Snuggle on the sofa looking down to the seals, fish & birdlife. Dine or sip a glass or two on the balcony and feed the ducks or swans from above. Relax, retreat, feel comfy, be mindful, reflect, review, do some 'Forward Thinking', recharge, reinvigorate yourselves and/or simply enjoy the tranquility of the retreat, village and river life. Take a ferry or hire a boat if you dont want to paddle yourself and visit Dartmouth, Stoke Gabriel, The Tuckenhay pubs & Totnes or sample the river Dart wine at Sharpham or jump on the steam train at Kingswear or pop across to Greenaway to visit Agatha Christie's lovely house and gardens. The choice is yours- we can guide you or you can just chill and see what each day brings. The indoor pool should be available so book a slot in the warm times. Yoga and palates classes nearby. Classic heart warming traditional roasts on Sundays (+ veg options)...all within gentle walking distance. Come and enjoy a few special wellbeing days you have access to the main house indoor pool, garden, including petanque pitch and the Boathouse part of the retreat. You have your own space. We do not intrude but are usually available to welcome you and answer any questions. we have lived in the village for over 20 years so have plenty of ideas on where to go and what to do.. Please enquire about the pool to find out if if it is available. The whole property is also available for rent during some summer weeks so then it is possible to invite your extended family and/or close friends to enjoy exclusive use of all the facilities. Dittisham is a lovely and friendly riverside village with a shop, 2 pubs and a summer cafe. People are drawn back here over their lifetime and a good number decide to settle here when life allows it You can drive to nearby towns and the beautiful coast nearby and / or take the ferry to Greenaway or Dartmouth...or simply canoe down the river to the pub... We have a 7KWh fast charge socket for electric cars. We are hoping to have electric bikes for hire in the village in 2022. There is an electric car taxi service to and from the village to nearby Totnes Rail Station and other locations. We are trying to reduce our carbon footprint so have great insulation, wood burning stoves, green electricity provision and we encourage you to leave your car behind. The boathouse has a ship's staircase which is more than a ship's ladder and less than a standard staircase. Access is closed off by shutting a hatch once you are in the sail loft/bedroom. The small hot water tank is reheated twice a day so go easy in the shower if two want one consecutively!
