This apartment is a perfect base for work or pleasure being just a short 25 mins walk or 6 min drive to the centre of Cardiff. The newly refurbished light and airy open plan kitchen/living space has everything you need to either relax or work in with our free 358Mb wifi & flat screen TV. With the comfortable double bedroom and walk in shower as well, it’s got everything you need for a bolt hole whilst staying in this wonderful city. Our bright one bed contemporary loft apartment provides you with everything you need for your stay in Cardiff; a stunning living space with all the provisions for a night in, a dining table to either dine or work at, a kitchen for all your culinary requirements and of course the relaxing delux pocket sprung mattress to finish your day on! The shower room with walk in shower has basic toiletries and there are many more amenities provided (please see the list of amenities below). Your apartment is one of three in the building and is situated at the top of the stairs. You will have access to the entire flat. A key safe is provided for easy access and self check in, should we not be on hand to greet you. We are available for any queries you may have, so please let us know how we can help make your stay as enjoyable as possible . Roath is a really popular and vibrant area of Cardiff, with everything on your doorstep. We will tell you about the essentials here, but please do have a look at ‘Cath’s guidebook to Cardiff’ for loads more information on what to do, see and where to eat & visit. There are an array of restaurants and cafes of all cuisines on the doorstep, especially around the corner along Wellfield Road. It’s recently had a write up in ‘Wales Online’ (Feb 2019) as becoming one of the best places to eat out in Cardiff! If you prefer to don the apron yourself, you can find supermarkets (Sainsbury’s & Tesco’s) a stones throw from the apartment, or there is always the famous Cardiff Market in the city centre. Formally the old jail (but don’t let that put you off!) you can find stalls full of all sorts of fresh and cooked ingredients. You are spoilt for shopping options in Cardiff, with small boutique shops on and around Albany Road and the larger shopping arcades and centres in the centre itself. ‘Cath’s guidebook to Cardiff’ will be able to point you in the right direction. If you are visiting for history and culture then Cardiff certainly has plenty to offer, with William Burges’ Cardiff Castle (the interior is definitely worth a tour!) and the National Museum of Wales which is free (donations are gratefully received however!). It’s worth looking on the Visit Wales website to find out more. The Principality Stadium’s reputation precedes itself (especially for all the sporting fans) and is a 35min walk, 13 min drive and about 20mins on the bus. We could go on and talk about The Bay, Motorpoint Arena, St David’s Hall, Roath Park, Barry Island (for the Gavin & Stacy fans!), the Brecon’s and so much more but have instead put this all in Cath’s guidebook. There is so much Cardiff and the area has to offer! As ever, do let us know if we’ve missed anything that you need to know about! You are in a really good spot for getting around in Roath, with pretty much everywhere in walking distance, however regular buses to and from the city centre as well as taxis are available. From Cardiff Airport you can get the T9 bus to the city centre (Canal Street) which takes about 30 mins. When you arrive in the centre a very short walk to Bute Street will enable you to catch the 58, 52 or X1 to Alfred St, Albany Road and you are a 2 min walk from the apartment. Alternatively Uber does operate in Cardiff (about 6 mins to the city centre and usually around £7), as well as other taxi firms: Dragon Taxis, Premier Taxis and Capital Cabs (all numbers you can find online). It is worth a mention that the Universities are very accessible from the apartment on foot or via bus too. The buses are very regular and go all over Cardiff and the surrounding areas (including Cardiff Bay), so do check out the (Website hidden by Airbnb) website to plan your journey. Trains from Cardiff Central run regularly and this is a great way to go further afield without the stress of driving and parking. Some destination examples are: London – 2hrs, Bath – 1hr, Swansea – 1 hr. The GWR website is useful to check out routes and timetables. Other modes of transport that are worth a mention if you are more of an outdoors fan are the water taxis that you can catch to take you along the River Bute (Cardiff Boat) or from the Castle to the Bay (Aqua Bus). Also for the cyclists, there is Pedal Power and Cardiff cycle Tours who you can rent a bike from and go along the Taff Trail. If we’ve missed a mode of transport you are interested in, do let us know! There is limited free short stay parking on the street outside the flat, or free all-day on street parking on Westville Road and Sandringham Road approx. 5/7 min walk from the apartment.
