Modern en-suite double room in Victorian cottage
Barton is on the outskirts of Cambridge; it's a real country village with very good amenities and handy transport links. The house is a Victorian cottage next to the church and accessed via a footpath. Your room catches the morning sun, has comfortable seats and table and a modern en-suite shower room. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. There's a large chest of drawers and hanging wardrobe space for you to use. There are two of us living here, but we're quiet, and someone is around most of the time. Barton is a thriving village of about 900 people. We have two pubs (The Hoops and The White Horse), two churches (St Peter's and Barton Baptist), a post office and general store, a service station with shop and Burwash Manor Barns, which includes a cafe, food hall, butcher, toy shop, florist, haberdashery and many other independent retailers. All the shops in the village are open 7-days a week. We have very good wifi here, which is, of course, freely available to guests. There are lots of walks around the village, including those maintained by Burwash Manor and the Countryside Restoration Trust. Both farm organically, so the wildlife is good. It's quite flat around here, so only a few slight inclines which we call hills, but it does mean we have a big sky and fabulous sunsets! Barton is three miles from the centre of Cambridge and half a mile from the M11 (jct 12). There's a cycle path all the way into town and two bus routes. (Please see the Barton Parish Council website for timetables etc.) Parking on School Lane or the High Street isn't a problem, although it can be quite busy round school time.
