Comfortable, homey, private space

Our home is in the quiet community of Morton Grove, conveniently located just outside of Chicago and close to O'Hare. Your private finished basement is comfortable and spacious. Easy access to everything including Metra, CTA, many Universities. Our home is on a tree-lined street with a front porch complete with rockers and front porch swing to relax and watch the world go by. Our open floor plan on the main floor is the common area, and the backyard has a patio with gazebo and grill for outdoor enjoyment to relax and unwind. The 850 square foot basement is your own private area. It is listed as an entire house because you have access to your basement as well as the first floor (where the kitchen is located), but again, the first floor is shared with our family and the second floor is our family's private space. The 850 square foot basement is finished with your own private bathroom (with shower), bedroom and common area. The bedroom has a queen size Sleep Number Bed, and the living room has a day bed with trundle which can provide two additional twin beds or can turn into a King Size bed. You have a large sectional couch, HD television with BluRay and Cable TV, and a pub table and chairs. You also have your own gas fireplace. We say that the space accommodates 5 people, but that is if you want to fit 3 in the King Size Bed (ie. little kids). We provide you with a Keurig coffee maker and access to a refrigerator/freezer. The basement is separated from the first floor by a curtain to ensure your privacy. We are a family of five with three girls - two in highschool, one in college. We are an easy going family who are constantly on the run with sports and activities. We are well traveled and truly enjoy meeting new people. You are welcome to spend time with us upstairs or keep to yourself and enjoy your quiet time downstairs. Either way, we will do everything we can to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable and feel like home. Both CVS and Walgreens are at the end of our street, several neighborhood bars are within walking distance, and the famous Pequods Pizza and Burts Place (featured on Anthony Bourdain’s TV show “No Reservations” as well as on the TV show Check, Please!) are blocks away. There is no shortage of gyms (Planet Fitness, the Park District, LA Fitness) within a two mile radius. There is plenty to do with kids including many beautiful parks and Harrer Park pool just blocks away. The forest preserve bike trail is beautiful and is perfect for a bike ride, jog or stroll. Westfield Old Orchard Shopping Mall is 2.3 miles away and the Chicago Botanic Gardens and The Ravinia Festival are a 13 minute drive right up the the Edens Express way. Oakton Community College, NorthPark University, Northestern Illinois University, Northwestern University, Loyola University, National-Louis University are all a short drive away. The Illinois Medical District (Northwestern Memorial Hospital, UIC, Rush University Medical Center, Hines VA, Stroger, RIC, etc.) is 25 minutes without traffic, Lutheran General Hospital is 3.9 miles away and Northshore University Health System Hospitals are in the neighboring towns. Everything you could want or need is close. We are conveniently located off of the Edens Expressway and 5 miles down from the I-294 Expressway. O’Hare is 11.5 miles or a 15-20 minute drive to the West of us, and the beaches of Evanston and Wilmette are a 7 mile drive to the East of us. We are blocks from the Metra Station and 1.3 miles from the Skokie Swift CTA Station. Our home is 1.8 miles from the Chicago border, and approximately 12 miles to the heart of Downtown Chicago. The Linne Woods forest preserve and bike trail winds its way through Morton Grove. Our main objective is to have happy guests, and that is reflected in our high rating and Superhost status. We have found that by making sure that our guests fully understand what to expect, then they are happy. We want to be clear that if the sole purpose of your trip is to "hang out" here and be here 24/7, then this is not the place for you. As of October 2015, we moved to a keyless entry system to our home. Before your arrival, you will need to download the "August Smart Lock" app and set up an account. You will see an invitation waiting for you from me. This will allow you access to our home during your stay. You will open and lock our door using your smart phone. You will need to have a profile on your Airbnb page in order for us to consider you as a potential guest. When asking to stay, please include a brief explanation of the purpose of your travel.
