Cosy light filled 1960s beach house in a great location.Sitting on a bluff opposite ocean reserve . Ocean, lake and mountain views from the living room and veranda. Access to the nearby channel and ocean beaches within 5 minutes walk, and only a 5 minute drive to the spectacular Caves Beach. Surrounded by a spacious garden and well away from any traffic so you can completely relax in this home away from home. Only 5 minute drive to supermarkets and cafes in Swansea and Caves Beach. Swansea Heads Hideaway was designed by an architect in the mid 1960s. A lot of the original character and features remain. The house is small but full of light and ocean breezes with a solar passive design. There is new split system air conditioning powered by solar panels for the hotter and cooler days. The guests are able to access and have exclusive use of the whole cottage and garden apart from the garage which is used for host storage. Ample parking space is available. We live nearby and are happy to be of help and give advice if needed but will respect the privacy of guests. We love our seaside area and love to welcome guests to Swansea Heads and let them know of the many wonderful nearby places to visit. Swansea Heads is a beautiful area at the entrance to Lake Macquarie. Swansea Heads is a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific ocean on one side and the Swansea Channel on the other. Near by Caves Beach and Swansea, both have supermarkets, shops, hotels and restaurants The cottage is opposite waterfront reserve with track down to a secret rocky beach called by locals Chalkies Beach after the prominent white chalk rock at the northern end. It's an easy 5 minute walk to explore rock platforms and swim in seclusion at Crabs Creek Walk south along the beach a little further to Frenchman's Beach (great for surfing) and Caves Beach (patrolled). Caves Beach has a Surf Live Saving Club, and the Caves Beach Hotel. There are numerous opportunities for all water sports, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing , snorkeling, boating and fishing. The bluff opposite is used frequently as a take off point for paragliders. The Belmont airport is 10 minutes away if you feel the urge to parachute or you want to go for a joy flight over this spectacular area. There is lots to do and see explore in Lake Macquarie Parks, bike tracks children's playgrounds, markets and much more It is 40 minutes drive into Newcastle city centre and just a bit longer to the Hunter Valley with all its beautiful scenery, vineyards and restaurants. Swansea Heads bus terminus is a 2 minute walk for the bus into Swansea, Belmont, Charlestown and Cardiff. Connecting buses into Newcastle city and around Lake Macquarie. Swansea Heads Hideaway is an easy 5 minute drive to Caves Beach and Swansea with Shops and amenities. The sofa bed is a double with a foam mattress that folds away inside the couch. As such it is fine for 2 children but may not be that comfortable for 2 adults. Previously the name of the cottage was Chalkies Beach Cottage it was named after the beach directly in front locally named as "Chalkies" after its chalky head land..
