Secluded flat on the banks of the River Ellen.
If you are looking for peace and tranquility then look no further. Nestled on the banks of the River Ellen, Rose Ghyll Mill is a stunning 19th century flour mill, and is the perfect location for relaxing after a day out on the fells or walking along the nearby beaches. The apartment has one double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/diner and lounge solely for guest use. Rose Ghyll Mill has two acres of land, including an orchard, and walks along the river. We also have fishing rights to the river which flows through our grounds, so feel free to bring your rod and worms, and try your luck! Also straight from the door, are a couple of really nice walks. The west coast beaches are less than 10 minutes drive away, and the Lake District attractions can be reached in 30 minutes. Nearby is the town of Maryport with its beautiful marina, aquarium, roman museum and it hosts the popular annual Blues Festival. The lovely market town of Cockermouth is a short drive away, and is home to Jennings Brewery and Wordsworth House, and the equally attractive town of Keswick is about 40 minutes drive away. All in all Rose Ghyll Mill is an excellent base for your next adventure! We hope to see you soon! Guests have the whole of the flat to themselves. However the garden is a shared space with the hosts and the tenants of the up stairs flat. As the garden is 2 acres there is ample room for everyone. The only area which is private and for the hosts use is the courtyard area. We live on the property and are open to any interaction with guests - we will also respect any guests who value their privacy You will need your own transport to get into the Lake District, as most things are a short drive away. There is an hourly bus from the village which goes to Carlisle to the North and Whitehaven to the South. Please note that there are dogs living on the premises who do have free use of the garden.
