ZenGateway: ZenGateway consists of 3 villas which are truly unique perched on top of the cliff along Telaga Waja River, in Muncan village, Bali. Our residence, re-built 150 years old Indonesian traditional house is on two floors, comprises a huge open-air living & dining space; 2 master bedrooms; a big open-air well-equipped kitchen. DISCLAIMER: Please be aware that our home isn’t for everyone, especially for individuals who are highly sensitive to surrounding noise (e.g., insect chirping) or wild creatures. We designed our space to connect us to the natural elements and love it for its openness, but know that for others pursuing urban comfortless may not like it. THE 150 YEAR-OLD HOUSE: ZenGateway is a beautiful reconstructed teak-wood home from Sumbawa Island—a neighboring island to Bali. The home is rustic and open to the elements. A true embodiment of the wabi-sabi aesthetic—finding perfection in the imperfect. This large, spacious, 140 sqm. (approx. 1,500 sq. ft.) all teak wood house with two story roof line provides plenty of rooms with natural air circulation while maintaining intimacy and privacy, with all living spaces, bedrooms and bathroom oriented to the panorama. SWING: The swing is to be shared by the 3 villas commonly. We built the swing paying utmost attention to safety with a professional contractor, but please note that we request guests to use it at their own risk. The villa management cannot take responsibility for any accident or damage caused by usage of the swing. LOCATION : ZEN GATEWAY is located in Muncan, a small village in East Bali which is about a 90-minute drive from Bali Airport and a 45-minute drive from Ubud. Muncan is not yet a recognized touristic destination unlike Ubud, but this beautiful small village, which is sometimes called "Next Ubud" will guide you to the taste of old good Bali which cannot be seen in developed touristic places. It's just 5 minute drive to well-know Sidemen village. Besides the incredible riverfront scenery and the indigenous culture, Muncan is also surrounded by a lot of famous tourist destinations. Some of them include; Lempuyang Temple (The Gateway to Heaven), Besakih (The Mother Temple of Bali), Tirta Gangga Royal Water Palace, Telaga Waja River for Rafting, Amed Diving Spot, and Bias Putih the Virgin Beach. INTERNET: -We offer pocket WIFI to our guests. Due to our location, the Internet is not the fastest and there may be occasions where it’s not working. Please keep this in mind. MEALS: Western Breakfast per person is included in the price. The owner opened a Western restaurant 5 min walk from the villa in Feb.2022, so you can chose to have breakfast either at the restaurant or in the villa. If you would like to have romantic dinner, the restaurant will serve you upon reservation. Please contact us for details. AIR CONDITIONER: ZEN GATEWAY is not equipped with air conditioners, but no worries at all. You will never need aircons in this villa situated in the high mountain area where you would rather want sweater or fleece jacket in the night. The home is architecturally designed to take advantage of the natural breezes that blow through the Mr.Agung to the Ocean. The average temperature year around at night in the terraces is around 21-22 degrees celsius and thus very comfortable to sleep. INFINITY SWIMMING POOL: So sorry but please note that the pool is unfortunately closed now due to COVID-19, until the Indonesian government lifts the ban. The owner of ZenGateway runs a rafting company, and owns a gorgeous infinity swimming pool at its starting point, which is just 10-min nice walking from ZenGateway. After this Corona nightmare is over, your are entitled to use the swimming pool ANYTIME you want between 9am-4pm, but please note that it's a common facility used by another guests. Please use the swimming pool at your own risk. PRIVACY: You have access to the entire house and it's all yours, so make yourself comfortable and enjoy privacy. Please note that however the swing is commonly shared by the 3 houses and the other guest could see you riding on the swing. Cleaners will visit the house between 10am - 12pm, but they will refrain from stepping into the house if guests do not want to. Please talk with our caretaker in advance. SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS AROUND: We are in a secluded mountain location amidst nature – there is one shop where you could buy snack and cold beverages in 5 min walking distance, but no ATMs or grocery shops in walking distance. MOTORCYCLES: You can hire motorcycle to explore the surroundings. (talk with the caretakers for pricing which is lower than you hire from a vehicle rental shop). Please ask in the booking conversation or talk with our caretaker. INSECTS & BUGS (please read): The house is designed very openly and thus bugs, insects and frogs are common. Our beds have mosquito nets, but if you get scared of insects or bugs, this is not the right place for you and we recommend you to find somewhere else (concrete wall types of hotels) instead. We are after all in the middle of nature and that's what people love about our villa. TOWELS & LINEN: In the rainy season the towels and linen at times get damp and may start to smell. If you need replacements at any time during your stay, simply let the team know and they will supply you with fresh ones. HANGING NET : Please use the indoor hanging net at your own risk. The total weight on the net should never exceed 150kg and it is limited to 1 person max. Never stand or jump on the net. For safety reasons, we always recommend to use hand and legs together when going over the net. Never sit on the rims of the net, for the risk of falling down. Please note that ZenGateway is not legally liable for injuries or damages sustained when using the nets, therefore please use them at your own risk only. TRANSPORTATION: If needed, we can help arranging transportation from/to the airport. Please let us know your wish upon reservation. Privacy: The whole space is only for you.
