Stunning historic private suite close to amenities
Stratford Court is a beautiful Grade II listed home in the heart of the Cotswolds. The recently renovated accommodation is the former Servants' Quarters on the top floor accessed via the original 16th century stone staircase. It really is “Downstairs Upstairs” with two double bedrooms (Hudson & Bridges) both en-suite and each can be made up with either King Size or Twin beds. This is an idyllic location with stunning views but many amenities and attractions are within walking distance. In addition to the two en-suite bedrooms there is a kitchen area with fridge, sink, microwave, toaster, kettle and induction hob as well as a dining space. The comfortable lounge area includes a sofa and TV with Sky Sports and Netflix as well as high speed broadband. Each bathroom has underfloor heating with a walk-in shower, wc and sink. The house overlooks a 4 acre playing field with spectacular views across the valley to Rodborough Fort and the National Trust Commons at Selsley and Minchinhampton. Amazingly this idyllic location is just a short walk from many amenities and attractions. Just over the a road is Stratford Park with a Leisure Centre (indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, gym) as well a lake, woodlands, play area, bandstand, miniature railway and the Museum in the Park. There is ample parking and a south facing garden with seating areas. Stroud town centre with its nationally acclaimed farmer’s market and independent shops is just a 12 mins stroll. The railway station with direct trains to London and connections to South Wales and the South West via Swindon and the Midlands via Cheltenham & Gloucester is only 15 mins walk. The local towns and villages include Painswick with its Rococo Gardens and Minchinhampton with 3 golf courses and beautiful walks and the Cotswold Way passes close-by. A Tesco supermarket is 5 mins walk away. There is ample free parking and local buses stop close by. Stratford Court is hosted by John & Maria who between them speak English, Portuguese, Spanish & French. Access is through the main entrance and hallway of our family home which is usually full of laughter and music but the Servants Quarters have an internal private staircase (28 steps!) and are totally secluded. If you want to make your stay extra special you could persuade John to cook you his world famous Sunday roast or a romantic candle-lit dinner or arrange a session with Maria who is a fully trained therapeutic coach specialising in sports performance, depression, addictions and well-being. Please book these activities in advance. Stroud was named best place to live in the UK 2021 by the Times who said: "Our overall winner has the basics covered in perfect style and, even better, it has a strong community spirit and knows how to celebrate all things local" ..... and with an average of 22℃ during July, Gloucestershire took top place as the staycation spot with the warmest temperature in the mid summer month in a recent national survey based on Met Office data since 1970. Temperatures 4 degrees warmer and 18mm less rain than Devon There is ample free parking and local buses stop close by. Mainline rail station is 15 mins walk
