Slap bang in the centre of the Wombat State Forest, Blackwood and Martin on Main, a self-contained private cottage always ready on short notice and perfect for that romantic weekend, girl’s getaway, outdoors adventure or a midweek escape. Martin on Main is a quirky cosy cottage furnished in an eclectic retro style. Built in the 1930’s every piece of timber is hand milled or recycled from crates transporting machinery from the Detroit Motor Company. The cottage is situated amongst 1/2 acre of peaceful cottage gardens. Either the North or deep West facing verandah make a pleasant places to sit and unwind with a good book, coffee or glass of wine. Step inside Martin on Main and you will be greeted by a sunny breakfast room, well appointed country style kitchen and cosy lounge with wood fired heater, games and books. The bedrooms are extremely snug with comfy beds, fine linen and plump Doona's. The newly renovated sleek white bathroom with shower over bath also offers a washing machine for those outdoor adventures. Martin on Main is a ridiculously short stroll to Blackwood Hotel. It is an extremely quiet and comfortable space with wonderful views of Blue Mount to the North and the Lerderderg Bush Reserve to the East, bird life abounds. Please note: we are strictly NO PETS... The whole property and the grounds are accessible to guests. Blackwood has excellent Telstra mobile phone coverage (4G), other providers may be poor. Guests can relax with minimal host interaction. For local tips - drop into Martin Street Coffee Roaters, Jindarup (Blackwood Post Office) for essentials or the Blackwood Hotel for a beverage, music and lunch or dinner. The Neighbourhood: You are slap bang in the home of the Wombat, the Lerderderg State Park or Wombat Forest. Walk to the Mineral springs (1.0 Km), Shaws Lake, onto Golden Point or over to Garden of St Erth (3.5 Km) along Whipstick trail. A short 15 minute drive to Trentham or 20- 25 minutes to Daylesford for a spot of exploring. What to do: Feeling a little more active? The numerous walking tracks within the Lerderderg State Park cater for bushwalking and mountain biking enthusiasts, opportunities abound for every skill and energy level (maps available online). For the horticulturists the district offers great garden and plant nursery searching prospects, with the Garden of St Erth (Diggers Club) and Blackwood Ridge Nursery nearby. Great dining is a short stroll from your doorstep, search Macedon Ranges or Hepburn Shire. No Public transport. Limited mobile phone coverage, Telstra 4G very good (mobile data) Mobile phone reception is poor for providers other than Telstra 4G. NO TV or Internet. Games, magazines and books provided. All sheets, towels and cosy Doona’s provided. A range of assorted teas and coffee is provided in fully equipped kitchen.
