From here, down the road, you can see a crossroads controlled by traffic lights. Go down the hill and turn right into the Struet, noted for the facades of its many listed Georgian town houses. Continue along the Struet until you reach a footbridge on the left, not far beyond the junction with the road to Upper Chapel. Cross the bridge and turn right up a slope between stone walls. A path on the left leads to the Cathedral grounds. Brecon Canal Basin With the iconic Theatr Brycheiniog alongside, the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal basin offers heaps to do. Acknowledged as one of the most beautiful canals of the South Wales network, you could explore the towpath on foot or hired bike or potter about in a boat. Then head to The Waterfront to enjoy some delicious food at a table overlooking the water. The Gurkha Path Walk through the field beside the River Usk just north of the boat house at Brecon and you will come to a kissing gate which leads onto a lovely path cut and build along the River Usk.
