A family run Glampsite set on our working farm in West Lancashire, just 5 minutes from the Leeds to Liverpool Canal. Our 4 bell tents are fully furnished for a luxurious camping experience. Set on a hard base, each tent has proper beds, all bedding, blankets, bedside tables, blanket boxes and a cooking box (with all the essentials for a successful campfire cook-up) included. Outside you have your own firepit with cooking tripod, BBQ utensils, tables and chairs. The all-you-need comforts go hand in hand with a traditional camping set-up. The site is completely off-grid and has a genuine camping atmosphere – think compost toilets, gas-powered showers, late night campfires and starry nights – but for those in need of a good pillow and a sound night's sleep, the farm is ideal. Small-scale and low key, this is a place where you can chat to the owners rather than members of campsite staff and get first hand recommendations on the local area. The glamping field lies on the edge of a small ancient woodland 'Alice's Plantation'. With a few ponds and plenty of trees, it is a great place for watching the wildlife, playing games, running around in and generally having fun .......... or simply sitting back and relaxing. The glamping field is located on our family farm, where we live. Although we do not live 'on' the glamping site we are only 600m away down a track should you need us for anything. Whether it’s heading east into the hills, west to the beach or out to one of the surrounding cities, there’s certainly plenty to do. A walk along the Leeds to Liverpool canal is a fantastic place to start. There are several good pubs on the waterside and the tow path has loads of space if you want to bring a bike along for a family cycle. Pedal back towards Ormskirk, meanwhile, and you can reward yourself with a cool drink and some freshly baked gingerbread. The town is, apparently, the birth place of the quintessential English biscuit and there are plenty of bakeries where you can find the tasty treat. More than one are also home to the ‘very first original recipe’. You'll need your detective skills to work out who's telling the truth. And a good appetite. Cars - You can park you car next to the glamping field (we do no allow cars into the glamping field). Trains - The closest train stations are Burscough Junction (for Ormskirk, Preston, Blackpool, Liverpool) and Burscough Bridge (Manchester line), both of which are a little over 2 miles away. Ideal for a digital detox. As we are off grid, there is no mains electricity, gas or water. We do however, provide your own luxury composting loo, a hot gas powered shower to share with 1 other tent and plenty of bottled drinking water. NEW for 2018 we also have a small covered communal cooking area for those damper days!
