This antique, quirky room has distant water views of Casco Bay, a day bed with pull out trundle bed and an interesting array of books and art for your browsing pleasure. Books are heavily weighted toward themes of social justice, minority rights, art and poetry. The large arm chair invites guests to linger, relax, read and enjoy the relative tranquility of a room in a historic Victorian home. This second floor bedroom is one of three guest rooms in the Captain Morrill House. Each room is quite unique and "funky" but clean and welcoming. Guests share one bathroom. In case of a bathroom emergency, there is a small second bathroom on the first floor used primarily by the owner/host. Walking is encouraged in Harpswell! Thanks to the efforts of the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust there are numerous trails throughout the community for all to enjoy. Be sure to checkout the (Website hidden by Airbnb) website for trail suggestions. I am a host who enjoys interacting with my guests and welcomes conversation, sharing stories of travel adventures and if time allows, sitting on the front or back porch sharing a glass of wine or cup of tea or coffee. The coast of Maine is a popular travel destination in the summer and fall. Orr's Island is no exception! The Capt. Morrill House is located on busy Route 24, the only road linking Orr's to nearby Bailey Island and Great Island. This proximity to a well-traveled road can be unexpected for some guests who might be imagining a more isolated location devoid of car traffic. A definite advantage of this address is its proximity to the Island Candy Store and several seafood restaurants. A private vehicle is a must here on the coast of Maine. There is extremely limited public transportation in most of Maine. Be sure to stock up on any groceries and supplies you might need before leaving Brunswick, including gas or an electric charge for your vehicle. The local convenience store on Bailey Island has limited hours and the nearest gas station is at Cook’s Corner in Brunswick 14 miles away. Whenever the weather and my schedule allows, I like to invite guests to join me on the rooftop viewing platform. Guests who are unafraid of heights often report that such a viewing experience is truly a highlight of their stay.
