It welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors a year to its two Shrines, the Anglican one in the village and the Roman Catholic Basilica a mile or so outside. The site of the original Priory Shrine is in the grounds of what’s now called Walsingham Abbey, 50 yards from the Old Bakehouse front door. Walsingham is nonetheless a peaceful and beautiful place; many people come here from a non-Christian background to be blessed by the prayerful atmosphere and enjoy the medieval backdrop. Parking is 4 pounds a day or 20 pounds a week in the car park 200 yards up the road. You can generally park outside the Bakehouse overnight from 530pm until 930am.
