I’m an architectural designer who has now completed our BS2 Loft Pods after 20 years of planning, preparation and finally construction. The ART PODS are designed to express my love of art but specifically graffiti art and are individually dressed to pay homage and exhibit art created by well known local graffiti artists such as Nick Walker, Inkie, Cosmo, Cheba, Andy Council and more. The PODS have been designed to minimise energy consumption through the use of PASSIVE technology. Enjoy..... Each ART POD has a large open plan living, kitchen and dining space that will be also the main art exhibition space representing each artist. As a designer I’m always thinking of materials, colours and textures and have opted for an industrialised feel by using exposed ‘fire rated’ OSB wood finish throughout the whole of the unit. The kitchens are a a matt black finish with leathered granite worktops and black steel splash backs. All fittings are low energy where possible - cooker, induction hob, dishwasher and washer drier neatly concealed off the dining area. The living space benefits from a large PASSIVE standard glass wall that is 3.7m tall and 6.0m wide which has 2 triple glazed sliding doors out onto the balcony that overlooks the rooftops of St. Paul’s, Montpelier, Stokes Croft, Kingsdown ans central Bristol. It’s a hell of a view both day and especially night. The bathroom is accessed off the main living space and is a rather unusual wet room space with shower, washbasin and toilet. The walls are again OSB that has been finished with a clear waterproof resin so that the wood finish is still visible. The bedrooms are again rather unusual and are in effect on two levels. Both are identical apart from furniture and art. The lower area is basically your wardrobe and study space with a ship ladder that provides access to the upper mezzanine level where there is a double bed that benefits from dual aspects. One is via a very thick fire rated glass window that looks across the living space below and through the living room glass wall. The other view looks out across St. Paul’s. There are some quirky elements though.... the ceiling is low and is only 1.4m high and the space over the lower room is infilled with a feature trampoline net that provides a safety net in principle but also provides a fun hammock to lounge on and chill.... The PODS are on the roof of an existing 1970’s ‘brutalist’ ex council building and access is via a lift to the 5th floor with a steel stair rising the final storey to the shared roof access to the 5 new LOFT PODS. The roof terrace is a shared access only and is not for use other than this. It is an unusual space as the exterior of the PODS is clad in mirror panels that reflect a the surrounding landscape and at times the building seems to dissolve into its surroundings. The exterior walkway is a special non slip finished normally used in boat marinas and is bounded on one side by a frameless sheet glass handrail system that is right on the edge of the building. If your a sufferer of vertigo this may be slightly uncomfortable but we can assure you it’s all perfectly safe. Each POD has a match boat gantry bridge that ramps up to the front doors. I will be the main contact for bookings and will periodically be available for meet and greet but I also have an agent who lives in the immediate vicinity who can assist with any issues very promptly if required. This lovely helpful chap is called Abid Based right next to the City Centre, St.Paul's & Montpelier are one of the most diverse cultural areas in Bristol. It is a vivid local art scene where you will find various pieces by local street artists including world famous BANKSY. Stokes Croft also recently known as Entrepreneurs mile hosts an array of local Food, clothing and Art. There are many live music nights and no two nights are the same. Bristol Harbour, Bristol Zoo, The History Museum, Bristol Cathedral are just a few of the attractions within easy reach of this flat. Cabot Circus, Bristol's newest shopping Quarter is literally 3 mins walk, so you wont have to carry you bags full of shopping very far!! Full of all major high street brands Cabot Circus also has its fair share of designer shops including Hugo Boss & Harvey Nichols. We welcome long term guests and our property is also Family friendly. If you have any special requirements please let us know, we will try our best to accommodate. Just a brisk walk away from Cabot Circus, Stokes Croft & Gloucester Road. The property is in a perfect location to see most of the centre of Bristol by foot, we are also right next to the motorway links, main bus routes, Bristol Temple Meads and local train stations. Bristol Airport is approxamately 20mins drive from the flat. If you need help with any travel arrangements let us know, we may be able to point you in the right direction. The PODS are in the heart of St. Paul’s and are a great location to enjoy the renowned St. Paul’s Carnival which will be very busy and noisy but fabulous fun. Please check you dates when you book if this is not for you. One of the benefits of the elevated aspect of the PODS will become apparent during the summer period and especially during the Ashton Court Balloon Festival as you can watch the balloons take off and generally they drift across Bristol towards the PODS. Some of them do get quite close......
