Light & modern; perfect for singles
A warm, creative and inviting family home in one of Melbourne's best suburbs. Abundant public transport, bike paths and close to Monash Freeway. Use the kitchen, play the piano or make the most of Melbourne on your doorstep. This is a warm and inviting modern home decorated by someone who worked in the arts so there in an abundance of art and books and a piano waiting to be played. Guests can access all rooms in the house except for the other private bedrooms (my own and my son's). I'm more than happy for guests to use the kitchen. If I'm cooking I enjoy sharing meals. And I'm more than happy for guests to use the food staples available (bread, milk, oil, herbs, spices, eggs, flour, sugar, tea, coffee etc). I am always accessible by mobile phone or email. I work full-time so am available outside normal office hours. If you are flying in from overseas I am happy (when possible) to collect you from the airport. Glen Iris is one of Melbourne's garden suburbs - the best of both worlds with sleepy, tree-lined streets but close to all the splendid things Melbourne has to offer. There are great cafes and restaurants within walking distance and Melbourne's best shopping streets are a short tram ride away. We live in a cul-de-sac so it is always quiet. In Glen Iris we are only 9kms from the centre of the city and we are well-served by public transport. We are almost equidistant (only 2-3 min walk away) between two tram lines (No 5 & No 6) both going into the city and the University of Melbourne and RMIT (No 6 tram is 250m and No 5 tram is 350m). We are also just 800m from Malvern Rd and the number 72 tram which goes to both Camberwell and Melbourne University. We are about 20mins walk to Tooronga Station (1.4km) which will take you to the MCG, Rod Laver Arena, the city etc. The 624 bus is on our doorstep (300m) and takes you to Melbourne's best shopping at Chadstone and the Caulfield campus of Monash University and the Hawthorn Campus of Melbourne University. We are walking distance to Cabrini Hospital (about 1km). We are about 2.4km from the Toorak Road, Burke Road and High Street exits of the Monash Freeway which takes you into the city, the airport or SE out of the city. Melbourne airport is about 35 - 40mins by freeway (or ~$100 taxi, ~$60 by Uber). Bike paths can be accessed close by for riding into the city (there are dedicated car-free paths just 1.4km away) . The closest large supermarket is 1km away (Coles) - it is open till at least midnight every night and there is a small supermarket just 350m away. There is a pharmacy, gym, BP service station, cafes, organic grocery, kitchen shop, wonderful florist, hairdresser, clothes shops, chocolate shop etc 3-400m from home (ie all walking distance). The room has a king-single bed so it is best for just one person. It is extremely comfy. We supply a hairdryer, shampoo and any other toiletries you may have forgotten (short-term). I've upgraded the office chair at the desk in your room so it is now fabulously comfortable. Please note that I have changed some of the furniture in this room and am yet to update the photos. There is a new white desk and white bookshelves and bedside table. New artwork on walls too. I have two single bedrooms that are used by Airbnb guests.
