Snowdonia Cottage, balcony and sea view.

Our one bedroom cottage, Tree Tops, lies in the Snowdonia National Park close to the beaches of Ardudwy, near Harlech on the west coast of Wales. Behind this coastal strip lie the Rhinog Mountains, giving marvellous choices of climbing and walking terrain. The cottage is well equipped, of contemporary design and has balcony with sea view. This one bedroom cottage is ideal for a couple or a single person and as the name suggests, is set in the trees. From the parking area you enter the kitchen which has everything you should require for your stay; fridge/freezer, micro, toaster, oven, ceramic hob, instant hot water etc. You then move into the living area with tv/dvd and your double recliner, to the sliding door that leads you out to the balcony, where you can feed the birds, or gaze at the view across the fields to the estuary and bay. Downstairs (these are steeper than average), is the bathroom with a toilet, power shower and hand basin, then into the bedroom where there is a king size comfortable bed. Access to the small garden is from downstairs, this also affords views across the fields to the estuary and sea. Tree Tops is a self contained cottage so you have no shared areas. It has its own parking space outside. The garden adjoins the owners garden and their house is 50 yards down the lane. On arrival we like to give guests a quick tour of the property so you are comfortable how everything works. There is a folder in the cottage with information and advice, however we are happy to answer questions and give further local knowledge about walks, climbs, beaches, eating places, transport etc., if you want it. The cottage is the last property in a small hamlet of about 15 houses along a country lane that leads down to the main road and the local railway station (500yards). The village of Llanbedr is one mile away down the scenic lane that passes the cottage. Harlech with its famous castle lies two miles to the north, and the seaside town of Barmouth is 7 miles to the south. The famous Portmeirion Village is 11 miles away, and the steam railways of Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway are a short distance further. The natural beauty of this area which lies within the Snowdonia National Park attracts visitors back year after year. Tree Tops has sand dunes and beaches on its doorstep, the nearest a one mile walk, whilst behind it the hills rise up to the Rhinog Mountains which run parallel with the coast. There are many routes through this remote scenery, along most of which you rarely meet other hikers. There are two valleys (6 mile lane to the head) that give you access into the heart of the Rhinogs from Tree Tops. Additionally there are many organised and varied activities that guests can enjoy from surfing on an inland lagoon, zip line (longest in Europe, fastest in the world), exploring underground caverns, slate, copper mine tours, guided water adventures, and some of the best biking tracks and centres in the UK. There are restaurants in Harlech and Barmouth, as well as two pubs in Llanbedr ( one mile) which serve food. At the northern end of the lane (500 yards) is the coast road along which the bus route runs, across that road is the Pensarn railway station. This is a request stop, with trains passing every two hours apart from Sunday. Several guests have used public transport to get here and travel around during their stay. Once used to the timetable it proved satisfactory and gave an added sense of achievement to the visit. Of course, car travel gives greatest flexibility to your stay.
