The Prince's quarters in a "Castle" in Villanova
Beautiful and stately three-story, stone gate house - designed and built by and for renowned architect Theophilus Chandler's estate and completed in 1911. The main property is no longer standing. The gate house which the neighbors call "The Castle" is all that remains. Currently offering four rooms for guest rental with two on 2nd floor and the others on the 1st and 3rd floor in separate listings (see photos). Off street parking and a little over a mile to Villanova University. No cats. As I had worked for The Franklin Mint for many years, the house does have a bit of a period look to it with many of their fine collectibles. One could say it is a mix between Ralph Lauren Home and Game of Thrones. This particular room is a bit space themed, as in Outer Space. It was previously my son's room. Hence, the Prince's room. Speaking of space, the room is spacious with about 265 square feet of space not including the walk-in closet. The bedroom is quiet and tranquil painted dark blue. There is a queen sized bed, desk with chair and one additional easy chair, big closet, bookcase, chest with additional blankets and quilts, one floor lamp, two table lamps and 3-speed top-of-the-line Hunter ceiling fan. We are currently not using the fireplace for AirBnB guests, but the room has an electric fireplace. Guests have access to kitchen, dining room, living room, and courtyard in back of the house as weather permits. Still doing a major spring cleaning in the yard but a few spots have been straightened up. Have lived in the area much of my adult life and worked in Center City Philadelphia and New York City as a commuter so very familiar with the roads and mass transportation and what to see and do and where to eat. This area of Villanova is relatively quiet. Each property sits on its own minimum 1 acre lot so there is space and natural privacy. Radnor/Villanova area is known for its trees. Villanova University is just about a mile up the road. There is a walking trail not far from the house Mainline Philadelphia location with no tunnels or tolls to Center City and near many corporate centers in the region but medieval miles away at the same time for a restful stay in a stately castle. Local schools include Villanova, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore, Cabrini, Eastern, Rosemont, Baldwin, Shipley, Harcum, Malvern Prep, Valley Forge, and Agnes Irwin. Both 476 and 76 are within minutes of the house. Regional train (SEPTA) is behind Villanova University with $1 daily parking. The property has many trees and plantings including hemlock, arborvitae, cyprus, boxwoods, blue spruce, oak, black walnut, honey locust, tulip poplar, smoke tree, crepe myrtle, and a dragon claw willow.
