Ruby Cottage, Longnor nr Buxton

Ruby Cottage is a cosy, comfortable cottage located in a quiet but central spot in the historic village of Longnor in the Peak District National Park. The cottage has been carefully renovated to retain much of its original character with exposed stonework, stripped pine doors and a wood burning stove. Bookings are welcome for a minimum of 3 nights, occasionally 2. One small dog welcome by arrangement. Ruby Cottage has one bedroom with a double bed and sleeps two people. A cot and high chair are available on request. There is full central heating and radiators in each room, plus a basket of sticks and logs for your arrival. Towels (bathroom and kitchen), bedding and background heating are all included. The property is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with very limited mobility as there are steps to access the property and steps to the upstairs. We only live next door, so are available if needed. Longnor is the perfect base for a peaceful and relaxing break. The village has a pub - Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese which serves good food. The village also boasts a great cafe at Cobbles in the market square and a locally renowned fish and ship shop. The village has a general store open 7 days a week and a Post Office, all sited around the historic market place. There are many spectacular walks straight from the cottage door, and car free cycle trails and cycle hire only a short drive. The spa town of Buxton is just six miles away with its Opera House, Pavilion Gardens and plentiful shops. The grand houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Lyme Park are all within easy reach. Buxton (with train station) is 6 miles away and Leek 8 miles. There is a bus service between Ashbourne and Buxton, via Longnor. The cosy lounge has a wood burning stove, leather sofa and chair and a flat screen TV with CD/DVD player. WiFi reception and speed are very good. Games, books, walking guides and maps are provided, as is wood for the fire (small extra charge). The room has a dining table and four chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge with ice box. Tea, coffee & sugar, tea towels and tablets for the dishwasher and washer/dryer are provided. The airy bedroom has a brass double bed with king size duvet and two bedside tables with lamps. The wardrobe has plenty of coat hangers, three drawers and spare blankets. The ultra modern bathroom has a walk in shower, under floor heating and heated towel rail. WC, wash basin & shaver point. The cottage has full central heating. We kindly ask guest to arrive after 3pm and vacate by 10am.
