Caminha, The River House Seixas.

Our much loved family house has breathtaking views across the pool level to the river beyond and Galicia in Spain. Close to beaches, family-friendly activities, lovely old towns with great restaurants and nightlife. The outdoors are perfect to wind down and relax. Seixas is a friendly fishing village and an easy one hour reach from Porto airport. We hope you´ll love this magical spot as much as we do! The house is situated in a truly unique location on the edge of the lovely River Minho Estuary with far reaching views across to Galicia (Spain) on the other side. The Gerês National Park is a comfortable day trip by car as is Santiago de Compostela. The Spanish fishing vilages of "A Guarda" and "Baiona" are less than an hour's drive. You will find great surfing beaches 20 minutes drive from the house (Afife is just one example). The historic portuguese cities of Viana do Castelo, Valença, Braga, Amarante, Barcelos, Ponte de Lima and Guimarães are all viable day trips by car. Porto and it's famous architecture and the unmissable Port Wine Cellars are an easy 50 minutes drive on the motorway south. There is an "Eco-pathway" that runs next to the house that is suitable for jogging and cycling. Kyaking, sailing and wind surfing are all available on the River Minho. The portuguese "Atlantic camiño" to Santiago passes next to the house and once in while you will come across pilgrims en route! A comfortable and spacious house with pretty gardens containing a private swimming pool, it is enclosed by high walls and enjoys open views across the pool level to the river beyond. It is very much a family home and has been used regularly by our family during the summer. The house occupies a truly wonderful spot on the water´s edge and the very positive comments left by previous guests in the Guest Book speak for themselves! Many guests have returned after their first stay. Guests who have booked the whole house will have access to the entire space. A meander down the cobbled lane from the gates of the house will bring you to the river, and here you can enjoy a walk along the river front or continue up along another path crossing the single track railway to the village centre 5 minutes away, where you will find all the local amenities (cafes, bakery, small supermarket). There are bigger supermarkets in the towns of Cerveira or Caminha. The historic market town of Caminha is a 10 minute drive from the house with a pretty square and great restaurants. The once fortified border town of Valença is famous for its textile shops and is a 25 minute drive away. You can also go a little further and actually cross the border to Galicia, Spain (by ferry via Cerveira or by car via Valença). It is possible to visit Vigo or Santiago de Compostela for a day trip. Beaches are a 10 to 15 minutes drive away from the house! Several trains pass daily with access to all the local beach spots like Moledo, Ancora & Afife or further afield to Viana or Porto. Some trains will take you across the border to Spain. Porto International Airport is just a 1 hour drive away.
