Take the small road which winds downhill passing meadows and wooded hillside until you see spread out below you the terra cotta tiled roofs of a small group of old stone houses.,dating from the 17 century,where three farming family's and their livestock used to live. You have arrived! Built onto the southern slopes of a beautiful and peaceful valley. Situated between the villages of Dieulefit and Bourdeaux in the Drôme, S.E France. The south facing appartment is charming and romantic, with spectacular views out across the valley with,its own private garden, and covered terrasse. On entering , you find a light and cosy well equipped kitchen, with a wood burning fire. Handmade terracotta tiled floors,whitewashed walls hung with paintings Colourful Kilim rugs. A bathroom , with bathtub & hand held shower , washbasin & W.C. Arched doorway opens through to a double bedroom with comfortable double bed (1,80 x 2m) Out through the bedroom's french windows you have access to covered small terrace and garden with lovely views down the valley. We are in the middle of the countryside,a few farms across the valley. The tinkle of sheep bells and the cry of birds in the summer months. In the Spring the lovely nightingales song can be heard in the thickets nearby. Not far from the pottery town of Dieulefit 8kms and Bourdeaux 5kms,where one can find all shops etc.morning croissants etc! Good retaurants both simple and gastronomic. The area is rich in places of interest to visit, Colouful local markets. Crystal mountain rivers in which to swim. Horse riding, cycling ( not for the faint hearted!) Wonderful hiking country..Nearest local transport is 8 kms. away. For those looking for that special place , away from it all . This is it. The pool is yours to enjoy, shared with other guests. We are on hand to help, and to give good tips and advice when needed so you can enjoy the area to its fullest. The paths less travelled by. For mountain runners, Bernd would be happy to show and share with them some of his favorite runs! This is an area that has stayed pretty well unchanged throughout the years. To the north one has the wild sweeping limestone mountains of the Vercors & Diois. Hidden valleys with turquoise blue rivers, mountain villages clinging to rocky outcrops. A wealth of wonderful mountain walks ! To the South, opens out the landscape of Provençe, with the warm perfumed blues of the lavender fields,along side the rows of dark green vines. Historical villages, and chateaux. Colourful local markets! Delicious local farm produce, including the famous Picodon goat cheeses! Public transport (bus) will only get you as far as the nearest villages.Trains can get you as far as Montélimar, (nearest station) Car is advised as we are in the middle of the countryside! The prices vary accordingly with the time of year.
