Ulysses Spice Garden - Relax, Rejuvenate, Rewind.

Situated in a tropical 1 1/2 acre garden between Port Douglas and the Daintree world heritage area. Just north of Mossman. Private room with ensuite. Separate from the main house. Take a tour of the garden and learn how to grow and use spice for both culinary and medicinal purposes. Each morning a gourmet breakfast is served on the verandah overlooking the pool. Evening meals are included in the price, made from seasonal ingredients many sourced from the garden. Set in a peaceful semi rural neighborhood surrounded by rain forest, cane fields and fruit orchards. The garden is home to a wealth of tropical plants, flowers, trees and a pond providing a rich habitat for a large number of birds, frogs and butterflies. A guided walk is offered. Cool off in the pool and enjoy a drink and a book on the verandah. The guest room is private from the house with ensuite and a lockable door. The bed is queen sized and the room is fitted with a ceiling fan, air conditioning and insect screens for your comfort. The ensuite has all the necessities plus pool towels. Use of washing machine and drier is included in the cleaning fee. A gourmet breakfast is provided each morning including local fruit and homemade sour dough bread. Freshly ground coffee and locally grown black or green tea. Herbal tea ingredients may be sourced from the garden. Homemade Kefir and Kombucha are available. Evening meal is offered, included in the listing price. If you wish to arrive after 8.00pm only a light meal can be had. All diets can be accommodated, ( I have worked as a professional chef in hotels and hospitals), however please give notice if a dairy substitute is required. Meals are provided as meal preparation is not allowed other than sandwich/light meal preparation for a picnic. There is a fridge on the verandah which you can use and is supplied with filtered water bottles. You may use the washing machine and drier and/or clothes line. You are welcome to use the lounge space to do some restorative yoga and use the Gaia app on the TV if required . Golfers can borrow some clubs and have a hit at the local club. Although we don't have reliable mobile phone reception, Optus only, we do have good wireless internet and free WiFi Safe parking in the driveway and there is a sensor light. Guests have use of the swimming pool, verandah, grounds and shared TV lounge. My cleaning charge includes the use of the laundry. We are an easy going couple that love having guests although we are usually in bed by 9:00pm. We know the area really well and am happy to inform you of the best way to explore and get the most out of your break away. We often share evening meal with guests but if you prefer to dine alone thats fine. Peaceful neighborhood surrounded by rain forest, fruit orchards and cane fields. Short distance from pristine water holes. Nearby is Mossman golf course, we can lend you clubs. Newell Beach 5 minutes away. Unfortunately we are not well serviced by public transport. Own transport is essential We have secure off street parking with plenty of room. We have a rottweiler - Kaiser. He is polite, but large. As such I don't encourage interaction with him in case he starts to ask for affection, and food! In the regions busy season it is advised that you book in advance some activities before your stay so that you don't miss out. For example reef trips, car hire or crocodile tours. If you need any advice please ask. During the wet season we could get a lot of rain days but this does not effect the reef and the rainforest looks amazing. It may be wet but it is still warm. There maybe mosquitoes but we do our best to deter them. Mossman markets are held every Saturday morning and Port Douglas markets every Sunday morning. To deter ants from entering the bedroom please store food in the fridge or kitchen. We are not suitable for young children as we have many poisonous and spikey plants.
