The Old Priory
The Old Priory dates back to 1170 with original architectural features from the later medieval period. As well as a priory, it was once owned by Oxford University, later a travellers' rest, a residence, a shop, a private ladies' school and a museum. Original features include medieval beamed ceilings, flagstone floors, ecclesiastical wood panelling, inglenook fireplaces and a victorian cooking range. To the side is a private walled garden. All the bedrooms have been refurbished since 2014 and have en suite facilities and flat screen televisions. Guests have sole use of the house and walled garden. The car park is shared with the owners but there is space for up to 12 cars. We live in the cottage next door and are usually available to help. We can also provide a range of food from breakfasts to fine dining tasting menus. Midsomer Norton is a small market town half way between Bath and Wells. It is convenient for visiting both cities and Bristol is only 15 miles away. Other local attractions include Longleat, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury and Wookey Hole. Activity centres nearby do clay pigeon shooting, riding, paint balling and archery. We are on main bus routes between Bath, Bristol and Wells. We are around 10 miles from Bath train station and 15 miles from Bristol airport. Although it feels like a country house we are actually in a town centre and have shopping facilities within 2-3 minutes walk.
