A beautiful, recently refurbished one-bedroom private stone cottage, The Steading is a self-contained cottage just across the courtyard from our main house. It benefits from a lovely setting amongst the Scottish countryside with glorious views across Loch Fyne, and has many unique features. There is ample private parking directly outside the cottage (spaces for two cars with extra parking if required) and you are free to enjoy the fields and open spaces around you. A beautifully converted one-bedroom cottage, with a separate bathroom (with bath & electric shower) and an open plan kitchen/dining/living room (which includes a very large, king sized, sofa bed). Wifi throughout and TVs in both the bedroom and sitting room (with Netflix/Amazon etc and built in DVD player). A brand new kitchen with fridge, oven & microwave has been recently installed, with a lovely dining table and room for four or more to eat. We are situated in 15 acres of beautiful untouched Argyll countryside, where wild deer roam freely (you will see them in the gardens and often spot them crossing the drive), with more red squirrels and wild birds than you can shake a stick at, and you may even spot the eagles that often can be seen circling overhead. A haven for wildlife, if you enjoy watching the animals, birds or looking for larger sea life in the Loch, we're happy to lend you a pair of binoculars to help you see more! We are happy to provide equipment for any babies/toddlers and well behaved dogs are welcomed (please enquire before booking). The Steading is your private detached cottage. We’re happy for you to walk in our fields to explore, as long as you respect our privacy by not accessing the area directly around our home, and respect the countryside by taking all your rubbish home with you to dispose of responsibly. If the Scottish winter weather gets the better of you and you require emergency use of our washing machine/ tumble dryer etc then please just ask and we will help out in any way we can! The cottage is across from our main house, where we live, so we are on site if you need us; however we prefer to respect your privacy (and vice versa) and allow you to have a break on your own to enjoy the glorious peace and quiet of the beautiful Argyll countryside. We do have two dogs (and a toddler!) on site ourselves, so you may hear them but they don't free-roam, so shouldn't get in your way! If you require any help booking local attractions or restaurants etc, we are happy to help or offer any advice if you would like it. We are next door to the national trust Crarae Gardens, a 50-acre Himalayan style woodland glen, which is truly spectacular and also has a lovely cafe! Just down the road is the Quarry View Garden Centre, which has a cafe and gift shop, and is a frequently used site for many divers to enjoy the abundance of diving sites in the Loch nearby. If you enjoy beautiful castles, and historic sites, then Inveraray is a wonderful town with lots of Inns and cafes to visit, and a particularly interesting old Jail! Well worth a trip on its own. There is an abundance of wildlife with plenty of signposted walks within easy reach, plus the open hills to explore, so it makes the ideal base to get some well needed fresh air and exercise. We are also a great base to explore Kilmartin Glen, home to some of the world's most significant archaeological landscapes, including standing stones, stone circles and rock art - where the special Kilmartin Museum is well worth a visit. We are an easy journey to both Glasgow and Oban, which is a great point to start any trip on the waters around the West Coast. We are 1hr20 from Glasgow, and an easy trip from both the main train station and the airport. If you don't have a car (which is advisable to explore all the gorgeous local scenery) then there is a regular bus service which stops at the bottom of our lane (we can pick you up if needed!). For keen walkers (or cyclists), there is an abundance of local walks and hills; plus we are not far from Ben Nevis and Fort William. We can help arrange boat charters if you would like to explore more on the Loch (highly recommended as it is beautiful) but otherwise you can spends days just travelling around soaking up the local scenery itself.
