**PLEASE NOTE WE'VE MADE THE DIFFICULT DECISION TO BECOME AN ADULTS ONLY SITE** Longview Farm is a tranquil smallholding deep in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We steward 8 acres of organic land using permaculture / regenerative methods and host WWOOFers so volunteers can learn about low-impact living. We keep our eco campsite pitches to very low numbers - and impact - so you will have lots of space. One of those pitches is Minty, a vintage lady with unique personality MINTY WAGON Minty is a vintage caravan with her own unique style of decor. She is very comfortable for two adults and there is a bed area with a sliding door for privacy at one end. Two children can be accommodated on the seats at the front. Water : Minty is plumbed in to the mains, so cold water is freely available Cooking : Minty has her own kitchen containing a four ring gas stove, sink and drainer, all the things you’d need to prepare a basic meal and 4 each of cutlery and crockery items. We’ll supply some basics like oil, salt and pepper. Bedding : as this is an eco stay we think having to do laundry between every guest is unsustainable, using unjustifiable amounts of electricity, water and detergent. Additionally, we dry laundry in the fresh air, so can't we do it without fair weather! We will put a base sheet on the double bed but you need to supply your own topsheet, bedding, pillows and covers; we have priced accordingly. If this is a big problem e.g. you’re travelling by public transport / bicycle / walking we might be able to negotiate by prior agreement and with notice. Our usual charge for this service would be £10-15 per stay for a double bed. **THIS SERVICE IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE** Electricity : there’s no electricity in Minty but if you need to charge a phone we can supply a battery pack at £2 per charge **THIS SERVICE IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE** Lighting : we will supply a solar lamp, the rest is down to you but please see Fire section below Candles : guests are not permitted to light fire of any sort (including candles) within the wagon. Fire: ***If you want to have a camp fire please ask us in advance*** If you ask in advance (we need to make sure the fire bowl and protective slab is available) you can have outdoors fire; it's easier for us if you provide your own wood but if you can't we might be able to provide a 10kg sack complete with kindling and newspaper for £7. If you do want wood please ask in advance, as we may not be in a position to help without notice. **REALLY IMPORTANT: It is essential do not take wood or any other material you have found on site to make a fire, even if it looks discarded or useless. We store up twigs and other pieces of wood to make wildlife habitat, dead hedges and bug hotels** It is possible to take your car on the field right next to Minty so you can easily transfer your bedding and belongings. We suggest you then move your car back to the other side (track side) of the hedge to fully enjoy the space without the presence of a vehicle. Minty will be unlocked - you just arrive she will be ready for you :) Things to do locally and further afield: There is a footpath right from the gate, taking you up to Nordy Bank (Iron Age Hill Fort) and Brown Clee Hill or down to Bouldon and the Tally Ho pub (45 minutes) Cycling is very popular round here but be warned – there be ‘ills! Clee St Margaret is a very pretty village with a 12th Century church and the longest ford in Shropshire St Milburga’s Sacred Well – legend has it the waters cure eye problems. Stoke St Milborough Ludlow, thriving Medieval market town and renowned for its foodie culture. With stunning castle, black and white historic buildings, museum, rivers, cafes, brewery, Assembley Rooms (cinema and theatre), leisure centre with very affordable spa facilities and lots of independent shops Ludlow Food Court and Garden Centre Clee Hill and magnificant views to the south Land of Lost Content – National Museum of Popular Culture, Craven Arms Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, Craven Arms Stokesay Castle, near Craven Arms Stokesay Court, near Craven Arms (where Atonement was filmed) Acton Scott working farm (where Victorian Farm was filled) Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley with waterfalls, very popular with walkers, near Church Stretton (National Trust) Ironbridge, Gorge and museums including Blist Hill Victorian Village (National Trust) Berrington Hall, Croft Castle and Wilderhope Manor (National Trust) Beautiful historic towns of Shrewsbury, Much Wenlock, Bridgnorth, Church Stretton The quirky and alternative town of Bishops Castle Bronze Age Stone Circle Mitchell’s Fold - We are very rural, lots and lots of country lanes! - There is a public footpath from the farm gate - Cycling and walking is popular in the area - There is no public transport closer than Ludlow, where there's a train station and buses There are a few other camping pitches in this 3 acre field. They are priced at £15 based on a tent with two people (other arrangements by negotiation) and £15 for a camper van. GENERAL FACILITIES **CORONAVIRUS SAFETY: WE ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO WORK OUT HOW TO BE AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE AND THE SITUATION IS EVOLVING. PLEASE EXERCISE COMMON SENSE AND RESPECT FOR OTHER PEOPLE AT ALL TIMES BY APPROPRIATE USE OF CLEANING PRODUCTS AND HAND WASHING FACILITIES PROVIDED. PLEASE ALSO BEAR IN MIND FACILITIES MAY NOT BE EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED, FOR THIS REASON. IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT TO YOU FOR YOUR STAY, PLEASE DO DOUBLE CHECK FIRST. THANK YOU FOR BEARING WITH US** Toilets : there is a beautifully crafted compost toilet, two private ladies urinals and a male urinal which use natural composting techniques. ***NOTE – there is no hot water or showering available*** Kitchen : in season (generally May - September) there are basic outdoor kitchen facilities which include a prep and eating area, running water, sink and draining board Communal space : in season (generally May - September) there’s a large communal marquee space for shelter / shade with picnic tables *PLEASE NOTE THIS IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE** Fires : ***Please do not have a fire without speaking to us beforehand*** Do not go foraging for firewood - we have wood piles for building, habitat piles for biodiversity and dead wood in the hedgerows is also valuable to nature. We've had the experience of guests helping themselves to any of the above, and that doesn't feel respectful or fair. Please ask us if you want a fire and bring your own wood, or alternatively we can supply wood and kindling for £5. Children : children are welcome and while they can’t get in to too much danger in the camping field, they’ll still of course need some supervision. We ask you to remember this is a quiet site and while the sound of children playing in the countryside is delightful, lots of prolonged or excessive noise (especially early in the morning) might become 'too much of a good thing' for other campers or residents. Please just exercise common courtesy to everyone and remember that sound travels, especially in these quiet hills. Dogs: four legged friends cannot be accommodated due to having sheep in neighbouring fields and pet rabbits running free on site. Sorry, but this rule is inflexible - it doesn't matter the size of the dog or how well it is behaved. Farm gate: it is essential you observe the country code and keep the gate closed. This is to keep animals OUT - we don't have grazing animals but sheep and cows are regularly herded along our lane by local farmers and if the gate is left open they will get in, causing (from unhappy experience) terrible damage. Camping area: the camping area is the field in which Wonky Wagon is sited and it's a large field with beautiful views. We ask guests to stick to this field (unless using the public footpath) and not walk around other areas of the farm where we're growing veg and fruit, keeping animals or living, without prior agreement. Thank you. **THIS IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT GIVEN COVID-19. PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH THE HOUSE OR OTHER CAMPERS. IF YOU NEED SOMETHING, PLEASE CALL THE MOBILE NUMBER REGISTERED** Camper vans: camper vans are welcome. A small / medium van for two people would be £15 per night - enquire for other prices. Naturally we do not have any chemical toilet emptying facilities and encourage you to use our composting facilities instead Group events: We've had enquiries to book our entire micro eco campsite for exclusive use. Feel free to get in touch and so far we've said yes to family (multi-generational) gatherings and walking and cycling groups (and would consider other special interest groups), but no to groups of friends wanting to get drunk and let off steam together (sorry! we're just not that kind of site) Phone and data signal : most people can get good phone signal and 4G data in the area Electricity : there’s no mains electricity to the camp site Rubbish and recycling: Due to COVID we are now asking you to take your waste and recycling home with you please.
