Overlooking the wide sweeping bend of the River Wye in the village of Tintern. Quiet and friendly, Tintern becomes vibrant with visitors in the Summer months. There are plenty of local stunning walking trails and easy access to the beautiful Wye Valley, The Forest of Dene and Offa's Dyke walks. The historic town of Chepstow is close by with quirky streets and shops, supermarket, museum castle and river walks. Although compact, the flat offers well designed and useful spaces. A kitchenette with cooking facilities, fridge/freezer and washing machine, a dining area / lounge with TV and Wifi access. Two Bedrooms; I Double bed, 2 Single beds, Bathroom with shower wash hand basin and WC. The apartment is situated in the centre of Tintern on the main road between Chepstow and Monmouth. Coming from the South (M4/ Chepstow) you will pass Tintern Abbey and Abbey Mill on you right. Travelling from the North (M50/ Monmouth) Entering the village from the North you will see the Rose and Crown pub on your right. A few yards past this you will see the apartment block also on your right and the small car parking area on your left. The first floor apartment is accessed via metal steps to the right of the building as you cross from the car park. The steps are quite steep and during the winter months should be lit by movement sensitive lighting. however I would advise a torch in case of failure. Cars can be parked outside the building for a short time for unloading and there a is dedicated car parking area just opposite the apartment block. Unfortunately, I do not live in the village, I will be available on arrival if required and able, otherwise a key will be left in a safe area at the apartment. I will respect your space and not intervene during your stay, however I will be available for local information via the Air bnb app or phone, if you require it. A telephone contact is printed on the information pack in the flat; in case of other queries or emergencies. Country retreat in a village steeped in history and folk law; with all the amenities to ensure and excellent stay for visitors. There are a selection of restaurants from elegant dining, local pubs to coffee shops. The Capital City of Cardiff is only 35 miles and individual shopping towns Monmouth, Abergavenny and Chepstow are all a short drive away. The spectacular South Wales coastline is easily accessible, by car or public transport. Tintern has many attractions of historic and folk law interest. One cannot visit Tintern and miss the majestic Cistercian Abbey or St Mary's Church founded 765 A.D. Further along the river to the North, you will find The Old Tintern Station, great for children and historical information. Also a walk to Eagles nest or Offa's Dyke or follow the industrial trail along the Angiddy Valley, the birthplace of modern industry which flourished here for several hundred years. Walking or cycling in the Wye Valley will afford impressive scenery and an abundance of wildlife to view or just sit and contemplate the bird festival on view from the apartment the changing tides and colour of the river with a view of the rolling hills above, recharge your batteries in an extra ordinary way. The nearest train station is Chepstow (5miles). A mainline Coach Station also at Chepstow serves transport to Heathrow, Gatwick Cardiff and Bristol Airports Local buses (every 30 mins) run through Tintern to and from Chepstow and Monmouth and beyond. The bus stops are just a few yards from the apartment block. There are no local Buses on a Sunday. There is not access to the apartment for wheelchairs or those who cannot negotiate steps sorry. Once inside, the space is perfectly suited for families, although people with small children should be aware of access limitations before making a booking. For the same reason it is not suitable for animals also there is no outside space and the close proximity to a road. Although the village is predominately quiet, at periods throughout the high season, the road can become busy. The dedicated parking space is opposite the flat, off the main road, take care when crossing during busy periods. There are no grocery shops in Tintern, you are best to pick up supplies on the way. There are small shops in neighbouring villages and a gift shop near the abbey where you can buy milk. If you wish to eat out you will have plenty of choice (see guidebook).
