'Cottage by the Fountain' is a cosy, grade 2 listed workers’ cottage in this historic model village. It is situated in the cultural heart of Port Sunlight which includes the Lady Lever Art Gallery, the Museum and the iconic fountain viewed from the cottage windows. The cottage is great for short stays, holidays or business. It is the perfect base to enjoy the beauty and history of our Village, for exploring the Wirral, Liverpool, Chester, North Wales or visiting the kids at Uni. I look forward to welcoming you to my renovated terraced cottage which, whilst retaining its original qualities, has all the amenities for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Upstairs - The cottage sleeps four with its two equal-sized double bedrooms. With comfy beds and high quality linen you should have a great night’s sleep. No problems with storage as each room has a fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers as well as bedside tables and a comfy chair. The bathroom is very compact but with a full-size bath and electric shower. Downstairs – The living room with its view of the fountain that gives the cottage its name, is cosy in the evening with sofa, armchairs, telly, DVDs, books and games. You will find the kitchen/dining area a truly enjoyable space to cook, eat or just relax. You can wander through the French doors to the very pretty outside space. The kitchen has an integrated washing machine, a dishwasher and other essential electrical appliances. Parking: Free on-road parking at front of cottage. The entire space. I will be at the cottage to welcome you on your arrival. I live in the village, so I'm handy to help you with information about the accommodation, getting around the local area or anything else you may need. The cottage is actually situated in Port Sunlight Village, close to Bebington. There are ample shops close to the village as well as local takeaways and restaurants. A retail park some 10 minutes’ drive away provides a large selection of shops plus a cinema and fitness centre. In the Village there is the diverse architecture to admire including the Lyceum, Hulme Hall, the War Memorial and Christchurch, as well as the Museum with its guided tours, and the Lady Lever Gallery. There is a bank and opposite is the Gladstone Theatre which offers a wide range of performances. There are two bowling greens and social clubs and pubs. Just outside the Village are the Butterfly Park at New Ferry and the Port Sunlight River Park with its outstanding views of the River Mersey. Frequent rail services to Liverpool (20 minutes) and Chester (25 minutes) are close by (there is a train station at either end of the village, one of them a 5 minute walk from the cottage) and bus services to both cities run through the Village. Please note that the original wooden stairs to the upper floor are very attractive but very steep and DANGEROUS FOR A YOUNG CHILD OR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES.
