This house is built directly above a secluded beach in Gordon's Bay. It has five majestic milkwood trees and an indigenous garden. The sea is often calm and the sandy beach is suitable for children. There are rock pools and cormorants and seals in the bay. The harbour and the village are within walking distance. The house sleeps four people, but only one bedroom is fully enclosed; the rest of the house is open plan. Sam lives upstairs and will be there to welcome you on your arrival. My place is right next to the sea, with direct beach access. It is light and airy with a large garden, shaded by five ancient milkwood trees. There is a fully equipped kitchen and three comfortable beds, one of which is super king size. I have no dish washer, but there is a large and efficient washing machine, which is useful for guests with children. The house is within walking distance from the village, where you will find some great eateries and a really good new coffee shop, open from early to late. The harbour is just around d the bend. Sam lives in a separate apartment upstairs and is a practical and amiable co- host. Guests have sole access to the whole cottage and the garden. There is a private gate which leads to a very short path down to the beach. Sam lives upstairs in a separate apartment. Gordons Bay is a quiet seaside village. In winter the beaches are almost empty on weekdays and one can walk, sit, read and meditate undisturbed (except by the weather). During the summer holidays the main beach can be crowded but the beach below my house is not. The harbour is beautiful and hosts two good seafood restaurants. My favorite coffee shop (recently opened) is Coffee on the Go, in the village near the shell shop. Talla's steak house is also good value. If you want a massage or a beauty treatment, try Senses in The Old Cape Mall. As to exploring the region, there is too much to say. Penguins in Betty's Bay, wine farms in the Hottentots Holland Basin and the Overberg, hot springs in Caledon .... The Navy is next door and you will hear their whistle from time to time. It isn't loud.
