Nature Home near Munich/Starnberg

Our idyllic home in the middle of nature, offers a private getaway to all. Close to the Isar river, the Schäftlarn Abbey, and many trails, you truly can enjoy a tranquil break. A 20 min drive or a 30 min S-bahn ride will take you straight to Munich. We would like to welcome you to our idyllic Home located at the edge of tranquility and nature. Whether you are going to the Oktoberfest, coming from the Munich fair, or considering day trips in beautiful southern Bavaria, this is the perfect apartment for you. The apartment is located adjacent to the family house, with its own entrance (and key). The apartment has space for three people (so that it doesn't get crowded for anyone). Just send us a message about this! The apartment has WiFi, heating, it's own full bathroom, a bedroom with a full-size bed, and a furnished kitchen in a separate room from the bedroom. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped including a stove, an oven, a refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster and a coffee machine for coffee pads. There is central floor heating, which is controlled from the main house. Summer is never hot here and we don't have air conditioning. For the third guest we will get out a (comfortable!) mattress to put on the floor. We can also provide a baby travel bed at request. In this case we require a booking for three people even if the third person is an infant (= extra 20 EUR per night). There is of course only one bedroom so everyone sleeps in the same room. Sheets and blankets will be provided as well as bath towels. The property itself is located at the edge of the lovely town of Schäftlarn. As can be seen in the pictures, the open fields (followed by woods and trails for running, hiking, or biking) are right across the street and are practically endless. On the property, there is a small pond. We welcome guests to enjoy the yard as well as the pond. However, the pond is not fenced in and children can therefore easily access it. For the safety of our guests, parents are advised to watch their children any time that they are in the yard, particularly when they are near the pond. Please note that we are not liable for any injuries or accidents. We make every effort to make our guests to feel comfortable and therefore our apartment is for non-smoking guests only (smoking only outside please). Also very sorry for 4-legged guests: we don't allow animals. The apartment has floor heating (even in the bathroom), large windows, and plenty of lighting. (The heating is controlled from the main house.) We also have a washer and dryer available in the main house. If you are staying longer than one week, we would be happy to take care of your laundry (1 wash cycle per week). If you are staying shorter, washing is available at 5 EUR per load (washing and drying). The shower was just newly renovated and works very well. The WiFi from the family house reaches to the Apartment. Please note, that we do not always have the fastest internet connection, although it works fairly well, sometimes we have had variability in the quality during what we assume are peak usage times for the area. Since your apartment is located adjacent to our family house, it will be easy for us to answer any of your questions or help plan your stay and day-trips. Nevertheless, your apartment is completely private! You only have to see us if you want to :) Come experience the real Bavaria in Schäftlarn! Located in the middle of nature, you will easily enjoy forgetting the rush of everyday life while still having easy access to Munich or Starnberg. Go visit the Schäftlarn Abbey, a huge monastary with a nice church. In summer, you can dip your feet and cool off in the pond on our property or in the Isar river. During the proper season, there is strawberry and raspberry picking just 5 minutes down the road. There are also several nearby locations to put in a raft (or do this through a company) and spend the day rafting down the Isar river. In terms of shopping, there is a bakery, an organic food shop, and a rural butcher within walking distance! Right at the S-bahn train station there is the BEST pizza at an Italian Restaurant where you can either have a very nice dine-in experience or get 5 euro take-out pizza! Just 3 S-bahn stops from Schäftlarn (12 minutes by S-bahn), there is the city of Wolfratshausen where you can find almost everything including a nice main street with shops, large grocery stores, plenty of restaurants, and gorgeous up-front access and walking trails along the river. The apartment is strategically situated, allowing you, if you have your own car, to be in Munich (20 minutes) and Starnberg (10 minutes) very quickly. Our home is also located 1.6 km from the S-bahn station, about 6-10 minutes biking, depending on how fast you are, or 20 minutes walking. The S-bahn, part of Munich's large public transportation system, makes it easy to reach our home when coming from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) or the Airport. Schäftlarn is a 30 minute S-bahn ride to Hauptbahnhof, Munich's city center. From the airport (MUC) by S-Bahn you will need 75 min. Please let us know your arrival time so we can show you the way! There is a bakery, a supermarket (Tengelmann), and an amazing Italian restaurant very close to the house. Ask us for directions! We have check in and checkout times in case we have other guests on the same time. Otherwise we are VERY flexible! Please contact us about it and let us know your arrival and departure times.
