RURAL GET AWAY Centrally located on 40 acres, this cottage offers privacy, ambiance and amazing rural views. It has one bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, bathroom, a wide shady veranda and its own perimeter fence. Given this is part of the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula the options are endless. Close to wineries, restaurants, markets, beaches and cruises on the Coorong. A working hobby farm it has a small herd of quiet cattle. Sit, do nothing or use as a base to explore this scenic area. CHR has one bedroom with queen sized bed. The huge window looks out to the views. The bathroom has a shower with adjustable shower head, hand rails and shower chair if needed. The kitchen has an oven, microwave, portable hotplates, fridge, kettle, toaster and all pots and pans, plates, glasses and cutlery. Besides the basics (tea, coffee, cooking oil and condiments), the retreat is self catering. The lounge has a wood fired heater for the cool winter nights plus a split system air conditioner. There are books, magazines and TV (if you must) but no WIFI. Also supplied are sheets, doona, blankets, pillows and towels. Outside there is a 4 burner BBQ, tables and chairs and a fire pit where you can make a camp fire. Fire wood supplied. (Not to be used during the fire danger season, or on days of high winds). It has a wide shady veranda with a small labyrinth incorporated in the paving. With its own boundary fence (rural fencing) the retreat is pet friendly (strict conditions apply). The entire cottage with its walled lawn area and yard with perimeter fence are all part - and exclusive to the guests. The retreat would particularly suit those who are seeking a private, secluded place to stay and is self check in. A contact number will be supplied for emergencies only. Given this is part of the Fleurieu. the options are endless. Being only 10 minutes to Goolwa or 20 to Victor Harbor and with the lovely towns of Middleton and Port Elliot in between, there are so many choices of short drives to a great many attractions. The Goolwa markets on Sundays, the Cockle Train and cruises on the Coorong. The bluff and Granite Island at Victor Harbor, great clothing and home décor stores in Port Elliot (and the best country butcher you could find). There is an amazing choice of restaurants and pubs, swimming, surfing and cockling beaches and whale watching in season. In a different direction, 20 minutes takes you through Currency Creek, with its wineries and the Canoe Tree, to Strathalbyn. This town has heritage buildings, antique, clothing and art and craft shops. The park and river setting creates a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere. If that's not enough Willunga is only 30 minutes North with all it's attractions including its award winning Farmers Market every Saturday morning, Given this is in a rural setting, there is no close public transport. A car is essential. No longer producing grapes, this working hobby farm has a small herd of Murray Grey cattle. Noted for their quiet, gentle nature, they will be grazing near by (and they keep the old vines well trimmed). However, please don't approach them - especially when young calves are present.Given their curious nature they are quite likely to check you out over the fence. Please keep the gates closed at all times because, as the saying goes 'the grass is greener on the other side'. And, in this case, the grass IS greener on the other side!
