Le Manoir des Doyens Cottage Bayeux
Self catering cottage set within the gounds of the ancient Manoir des Doyens. Just a five minute walk from the British Cemetery, and fifteen minutes to the centre of town; a peaceful, countryside setting, but with all the museums, shops and restaurants just a short walk away! The cottage has its own private garden, but you are most welcome to use the Manoir grounds if you wish to enjoy a glass of wine, play football, or feed the ducks! The cottage dates back to before the medieval period, and was once the property of the Doyens (Deans) of Bayeux Cathedral. It features original oak beams, wooden floors, two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, toilet and bathroom. There is a garden attached for your own private use although you are most welcome to explore the Manoir grounds; we provide things like badminton rackets, a football, frisbee and picnic blankets; there is also free parking on site. There is a BBQ for your own use. We also have a D-Day Map Room in one of the barns for those who wish to research this area of history further; use of the Map Room is free. The centre of Bayeux with its shops and restaurants is a ten minute walk away, as is the British Cemetery. ***We offer a 10% discount on the price of the cottage to all veterans and those currently in service; please send us a message to let us know when you book and we'll adjust the rate. *** The cottage and its attached garden is for your own private use. You are welcome to use the Manoir grounds also but please keep any noise to a minimum after 22.00 as we live here. We are a ten minute walk from the Commonwealth Cemetery in Bayeux, located on the Rue Fabian Ware. Exploring Bayeux on foot from the Manoir is perfectly possible, but for trips to the D-Day beaches a car or bicycle is necessary. The Manoir is a very old property so please exercise caution if you wish to explore. Please also supervise children at all times. The cottage is self catering. We will provide some tea bags, coffee, sugar and a couple of toilet rolls to get you started, but after this you will need to provide your own food and toiletries. There is a TV, but no terrestrial or cable channels; we do however provide a selection of French inspired dvd's.
