• Direct Access To The Hills • Stunning Views • Gorgeous Cottage, Romantic & Cosy • 1 Bedroom • Sleeps 2 • Perfect For Couples or Small Family • 2 Local Pubs, 5-10 Mins Walk • Shops/Supermarket/Theatre/Town Centre 3 Mins Drive or 15-20 Mins Walk The Hays is a charming little cottage, we challenge you not to fall in love with it during your stay! It is said that the cottage was originally a hay barn which was used to house the donkeys who would ferry Victorian visitors up the hill. It is believed to date back to around the mid 1700's and is full of character and is a cosy and romantic place to stay. The cottage is a very comfortable home away from home with all modern conveniences and a wonderful log burner which is particularly atmospheric in the winter months. The kitchen has everything you need including an electric burner hob and oven to cook up a storm should you wish to! There is breakfast bar seating plus a washer/dryer and fridge to keep all the chilled essentials in. During the warmer weather we'd recommend a morning coffee outside whilst watching the sunrise which is really spectacular, and something not to miss. The kitchen is stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper and oil. We provide a teatowel, washing up liquid, scourer, cleaning liquids and blue paper towel roll, so no need to bring those with you! PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NOT A FREEZER AT THE COTTAGE. The living room is comfortable and tastefully decorated including a 3 seater sofa and an armchair. We provide logs and kindling for at least a couple of fires so it's the perfect excuse to practice your fire making skills! Add in some family favourite board games, a smart TV so you can log into your streaming accounts or watch the FreeView channels plus an Amazon Alexa and you've got your cosy winter evening sorted! Upstairs in the bedroom the double bed has a sprung mattress with a memory foam layer which is finished with a pillowed top which we hope will give you a wonderful nights sleep. There is plenty of space in the built in wardrobe to hang your clothes and store your suitcases etc. You'll also find an iron, ironing board and hairdryer in the cupboard should you need them. There's also plenty of space for a travel cot if you need to bring one. We do have a high chair available but please let us know in advance if you need it as it is not stored at the cottage. The bathroom has everything you could need including a thermostatic shower with a large rain shower head and a second flexible head. There's plenty of shower gel, shampoo and handwash too. There isn't a back garden at The Hays (it is the actual Malvern Hills!) but there is a wonderful little courtyard at the front of the cottage with a table and chairs for 4, which means you can take in some of the best views. The road is quiet and only used by residents so the front courtyard is a great place to enjoy breakfast or a simple coffee whilst watching a glorious sunrise...if you're up early early enough! The cottage is all yours to enjoy during your stay. We live just under 10 minutes away in West Malvern and are usually around if you need us but please enjoy the cottage with full privacy. We operate a self check in using a key lock box so whatever time you arrive you can easily check yourself in. Please note that with the current Covid19 situation the check in time is no earlier than 4 pm and check out is by 10 am at the latest. We need lots of extra time to ensure that the cottage is thoroughly cleaned and sanitised. The safety of our guests, ourselves and our cleaner are of paramount importance. The cottage is exclusively yours during your stay. We want our guests to feel like they can unwind and relax in our cosy cottage with complete privacy. If you need to get hold of us we live under a 10 minute drive away, you can contact us by telephone, text or through the air bnb messaging app. If you have any arrangements you need help with to make your stay extra special please let us know, we're happy to help! The Hays is located in The Wyche area of the Malvern Hills so it's on the Hill itself. Once you get here you can access the hills without need for a car but you may wish to explore further parts of the hills and a car would be useful to get you to the various car parks quicker than on foot. There is parking outside the house on the road and spaces are usually easy to find as only residents tend to park outside. If you want to eat out or explore Great Malvern the town centre is about a 15-20 minute walk depending how fast you walk! In Great Malvern you'll find a Waitrose and some lovely independent shops and Malvern Threatres which we'd thoroughly recommend. Within a 10 minute drive you'll find the Three Counties Showground for all the country and flower shows and also The Morgan Motor Company who do brilliant factory tours at a really reasonable price. Eastnor Castle is a great day out just on the other side of the hill about a 15 minute drive away and a visit to Ledbury is a lovely half day out with its boutique shops and Tudor properties. Worcester City is also recommended as is its Cathedral and Commandary and perhaps a bike ride along the river, you can drive to Worcester in about 25-30 minutes. Cheltenham with its regency splendour and great shopping is about 45 minutes by car. Further afield if you fancy a visit to the bright lights of Birmingham it'll take you about 1 hour and 15 minutes by car or just less than that if you take the train from Great Malvern...there's so many more visitor attractions we could list including some really interesting and beautiful National Trust Houses and Gardens and the beautiful villages of The Cotswolds are about an hour away and well worth a visit. If you want any specific recommendations please do ask us. We'd recommend a car but it's not essential, we've had guests who've arrived by train and managed absolutely fine without a car. The great thing about The Hays Cottage is its location, which is perfect for hill walking and a convenient 15-20 walk into the town centre...perfect!! The nearest train station is Great Malvern which is just a 5 minute taxi journey up the hill! Some guests ask if there are any essentials they need to bring, the answer is No. We've tried to make The Hays a home away from home so we've thought long and hard about what you might need and have tried our best to provide it. In a nutshell you'll need to bring food and your suitcase! We provide: Duvets, Pillows and Linen for Beds Towels Tea Towel Sponge Scourer Breakfast Tea Bags Coffee Sugar Salt, Pepper & Oil Handwash Bodywash Shampoo Washing Up Liquid Bin Bags Disinfectants Hand Sanitiser Blue Paper Roll Toilet Paper Enough logs for a couple of fires in the log burner (depending on how long you have each one burning!) Firelighters Kindling Matches Iron Ironing Board Hoover Hair Dryer High Chair - Just ask us before your arrival as its not stored at the cottage If you have questions about any of these or something we haven't covered, please pop us a message - we'll happily respond!
