A beautifully restored Californian bungalow 1933 with off-street parking under carport in a no-through road. Access 250m to Melbourne (9km) via tram number 86 only 30 minutes to the CBD. Access to the city bus network in Murray Rd-250m. Walk to Preston Market/High St 5-10 minutes or city rail 30min. Our house is a Californian Bungalow 1933 -at the end of a quiet no-through road but with quick lane access access to major roads and the 86 tram and Northland bus nearby-through short (URL HIDDEN) typical of the larger worker's houses built in Preston in the 1930's compared to (say) Northcote with its smaller long single frontage homes and street parking only. We have off street parking and a carport -with trellised grapevine and passionfruit vines providing additional shading and atmosphere. We have lovingly maintained its character features and added a side driveway and matching carport. The house has modern comforts such as air conditioning and Samsung Smart LED TV in the lounge room (you can watch Netflix, Stan etc.)and Samsung HD TV in main bed room and small bedroom. As conservationists and lovers of Australian timbers like red gum and Jarrah we have many items such as cupboard and drawer faces, bookshelves desks and tables made from these and other native timbers. There are energy-efficient lights and appliances throughout the home-and 3 solar arrays -on the carport and the east and west faces of the terracotta tiled roof. There is a lovely study with magnificent single slab desktop and lovely open fireplace. The kitchen is a good size and all electric with upright stove including oven and rangehood. Also a convection microwave and 500litre modern energy-efficient fridge. We have most of our cupboards faced with jarrah-and a pine kitchen hutch. There is also a "fully loaded" walk-in pantry. There are plenty of appliances including a Rancilio coffee machine with built-in burr grinder. We have a small laundry with a 7kg front load washer.Walk through to the toilet. Our bathroom has a vanity, and shower over an original cast iron enameled deep bath.House hot water is via super efficient Sanden heat pump technology, replenished 11am-6p.m.Solar powered from our panels) Step out of the front door to an intimate veranda with seats and orchids and sunblind for seclusion-lovely in the morning! We have minimal backyard but instead a big enclosed secluded front yard with tall fence and gate enclosing flowerbeds and lawns.Citrus and pomegranates and grapes along the fence provide privacy and atmosphere-and organic food!! It's just gorgeous on a sunny day sitting at the outdoor settings under a market umbrella! Along the entire side of the carport is a grapevine shading the car above large colourful raised flower beds. Guests will have access to all of the house-main bedroom, small bedroom, lounge room, study and bathroom kitchen, pantry laundry and veranda and outside front garden/outdoor dining area-and use of the off-street carport. We will be available for cell phone/email contact throughout your stay. We will be at our holiday house. My son or daughter could be locally available if necessary.
