If you like modern spaces, and fancy hanging around sculpture for more than a quick gallery visit then this may appeal. The setting is stunning the accommodation clean and light. The sculpture is at close quarters within your apartment and in the beautiful landscaped garden. The accommodation is priced for two. ( The space is large and would easily accommodate three or four with an additional cost A sofa bed can be requested just bear in mind the space is open plan. Your space is open and clean and is a functional gallery but is closed to the public during your (Website hidden by Airbnb) is generally an appointment only gallery. The sculpture in and around the house changes as pieces leave and return pending exhibitions. Your living space totals aprox 110 square meters. You will be living closely by the pieces. The garden is beautifully landscaped and very green and contemplative. It has a stream gently flowing past with an old weir that used to facilitate the pumping station. At its best , as most Cornish gardens are, in late spring. Please don't expect too much to it in the winter months though. Autumn in Cornwall is also sublime. The facilities and space will easily take four. It is open plan. The mezzanine is spacious as is the lower floor and a sofa bed would be for the extra guests. Lovely powerful shower heated from a ground source heat pump. All electric , no gas, ...hence no need for carbon dioxide detector. The artworks are not just for show ... they are for sale and you may see something you like .... the advantage being you will be living with it for a while. The sculpture changes as it is sold or sent for exhibitions so the images supplied are indicative of that moment only. You may be an architect or designer looking for pieces for your next project or you may merely be an enthusiast .... all are welcome. If you are considering a sculpture for home or garden then a short stay here may kill two birds. Please note the price advertised is for two people per night. Please refer to this when booking. One person £85.00. Two people £95.00. Three and four person £185.00 ....... sofa bed on lower level. These prices are subject to seasonal change. A sofa bed will be available in the instance of 3 or four guests and must be requested at time of booking , otherwise two lounge chairs will be part of the furnishings. Kitchen, lower floor, mezzanine, conservatory, garden. I live in the annexed 3 bed house. I let the whole building out occasionally ( sleeps 8 ) for four weeks of the year to those that have previously stayed in the gallery. The house is never rented out separately from the apartment so you will not share the garden with other guests. However I am regularly around and although you can use the whole of the garden I restrict myself to a part of it to allow your privacy. The garden does need tending so you would expect the grass to be cut , weather permitting during a longer stay. The property is well maintained so any problems are minimal and quickly resolved. I do aim to get you checked in as early as possible. Cornwall is a long way from anywhere, especially this part, and I appreciate an early check in will be appreciated and endeavour to turn a two nighter into some of the check in day too. And please ...if you need anything let me know . It is no bother. Within reason I will try to accommodate special requests. The property is a working gallery but closed to the public when let ( except by agreement.) I sometimes run sculpture courses here but it is strictly private but devoted to accommodation when guests are booked. It is situated in the most beautiful valley, bordered by a stream. The house and garden take up approx 1/3 of an acre Although the apartment is rural there are many exceptional places to dine. Examples are, The fat apples cafe, Trelowarren estate restaurant, The Greenhouse organic restaurant. The five pilchards pub in Porthallow. Situated between Coverack, Helford, Porthallow and St. Keverne, your options are many. There are many very quiet beaches, and a couple of busy ones closeby. ( min of a mile ) This a very quiet friendly part of the country. If you are in to sea kayaking ( as I am ) and have your own boats then bring them..this is a perfect area for it as it might be windy on one side the peninsular and sheltered on the other, and, they can be kept secure when not in use. As with bikes. The village , 2/3 of a mile is well stocked with a very old church, two good pubs a post office, butchers, spar, and newsagents. Cycling seems to popular around here but be warned of the hills. This part of the Lizard peninsular is never packed in the summer so if you are are happy to explore the local area you will not have the hassle of queues and traffic. A bus leaves relatively regularly from the village to Helston and Truro. Tips for driving around the country lanes is to just be careful and patient. There are always passing places nearby and people are usually pretty fair about it. Being on a peninsular you are surrounded by sea so any direction you will be able to quickly discover some beautiful situations from creeks to woodland to beaches. If you happen to used to tooting a horn as you go around the bends of the narrow lanes just give a thought to those that live on the bends or a horse and a rider that might be spooked by it. Careful driving usually will suffice. It is a generally a quiet contemplative place. A few more tractors than usual around potato setting and harvest. I like the idea that if you are an artist you may bring your paints or sketchpad. If you are a musician , then your acoustic instrument, ( no amplifiers of course , we must consider the neighbours ) indeed, if you are pianist I have a full length electric keyboard you could request in your space. A cello sounds very good in the studio. But no matter, if you just want to get away from the faster pace of life and absorb and appreciate the surroundings then this is quite good option.
