Marciac is a short 10 minute drive which has a great selection of restaurants, cafe's and stores. Marciac hosts a Jazz festival from the end of July until mid August every year an event not to be missed. Hedgehog House is an 18th century Gasconne farmhouse set among 6 acres of garden and land, situated on a ridge among the rolling hills of Le Gers, with breathtaking views of The Pyrenees. The house which has been (and continues to be) lovingly restored, with great attention to detail is the perfect setting to enjoy this stunning region of France. Our orchards have a wide selection of fruit trees, including an ancient, fruit giving Fig tree we also have plum, apple, peach and cherry trees. A lasting memory will be sipping a chilled glass of local rose wine in our orchard under the trees, soaking up the view with its rolling hills and sunflower fields, leading to the majestic Pyrenees. We are ideally located just 7 miles from the town of Marciac, which hosts its world renowned international Jazz festival annually in August, attracting many of the great names in Jazz. Marciac is a Bastide Town, with a central square surrounded by café’s, restaurants and bars, each Wednesday morning the square is a buzz with our local weekly market, where traders, farmers and wine makers sell their produce. There are a number of lakes in the area, some of which are ideal for fishing, swimming or boating. We are just 40 minutes from the town of Lourdes Skiing is just 1 hour away We offer a tranquil setting for you to relax in and explore this relatively untouched area of South West France. We have one double bedroom, one with a queen size bed. The bathroom has a power shower with power jets and massage settings, an antique style roll top bath a WC and wash hand basin. The reception room has a large log burning stove, comfortable (antique) sofa and chairs, a dining area, TV with English channels. The kithchen is off the living room, and has a gas stove, fridge/freezer, washing machine and storage units. (The new larger kitchen in part of the barn is a loving work in progress) We have a large dining entertainment area in one of the converted barns, there are seating areas, set among the tress and orchards , so you can laze and read a book or soak up the views. Guests have access to all house and land. Marciac Jazz Festival takes place from the end of July and runs for almost three weeks. The farmhouse is set in a very tranquil setting, surrounded by the rolling hills of le gers You need your own transport when visiting this region.
