The bright Wooden Zen House is located in the bamboo garden connecting with nature and the inner soul. This guest home and surrounding make an ideal space for those needing a deeper contemplative state for creativity and recovering, or just a place to get away from the stress of a fast paced world. It is perfect for couples and solo adventurers who seek something special, and are attracted by simplicity and originality. On request we prepare a vegan/vegetarian breakfast and a veggie daily meal. The wooden Zen house is an ideal place to relax and/or to retreat. The tiny house covers approximately 20 square meters. The studio consists a simply furnished open plan kitchenette and a living room with double bed with an orthopedic mattress and a single loft bed. If the weather is fine, you can take your meals open air under the transparent canopy. As outdoor shower and outdoor WC are attached, you have to go outside (about 5 m) to use it. Our simple, but efficient self constructed solar water heating system will transform the sunlight into renewable energy for water heating. This sustainable energy system is designed to deliver hot water for the most of the year. In the winter you could use the gasheater for the shower. In the colder season the wood stove will create a homely atmosphere. The wood for the woodburner will be charged based on consumption. You will enjoy a fantastic view through the window into the garden with mountains in the background. During the summer the paved floor in front of the house is perfect for a personal yoga or meditation practice . WLAN is available and included in the price. Because we want to avoid that cars drive on our property, you have to walk the last 70 meters from the parking lot at our quinta to the house. Laundry service at the "quinta" and in Tábua/ intermarché is possible. There are 2 bicycles to rent. Our 2 hectares boast natural bamboo, olive and fruit trees, the ideal surroundings for those who enjoy nature at its best and like to explore our natural paradise. You can relax and take in the beautiful surroundings or take part in some of our arranged activities, as YOGA, TAE KWON-DO and WING CHUN Kung-Fu in private lesson or small groups. Guests are invited to use the Outdoor Yoga Shala for their own practice, also it is possible to practice ARCHERY on a prepared terrace. If you are interested we organize a real japanese TEA CEREMONY with our friend from Tokyo. Please let us know in advance if there is interest in any of these activities. We also can arrange massage, canoeing, rock climbing, hiking and horse riding locally. The Mondego river meanders its way through the valley and is only a 15 minute walk from the property, where, depending on the season, you can fish, canoe or relax near the river. You can explore the surroundings by car, on foot or by bike. There are 2 bicycles to rent at quinta bamboo. If you are interested, we give tips about the country, people and culture. We are located in the Center of Portugal by Póvoa de Midões, near Tábua and Carregal do Sal (approx 8km) between Lisbon and Porto about 60 km from Coimbra. In our village, Póvoa de Midões (approx 800mt) you will find a little supermarket (mini mercado), four cafes/bars, one bakery/pastery, a hairdresser and a service station. In the community center there is a monthly flea market and in the center of the village you will find a children´s playground. From Quinta Bamboo close by you can visit beautiful and exciting places in the region. The oscillating rock in Póvoa de Midoes with an amazing view over the Mondego river, also called Penedo C'abana, is an important monument in the county. One of the most unique natural resources of the protected landscape area of the "Serra do Açor" is the cascade "Fraga da Pena". 40km from our place you can hike in the "Serra da Estrela", the highest mountain range in Continental Portugal(1993m) which is formed from a huge granite ridge. There is a fresh,charming and relaxing place for a walk,this is Forest "Serra do Buçaco" with its wonderful flora and biodiversity. Coimbra, the traditional university city with remarkable architectural monuments and art treasures you arrive in 50 min. Figueira da Foz this old port town is one of the most popular seaside resorts of Portugal’s west coast with its long and wide fine sandy beaches. The nearest train station is 8km away, in Carregal do Sal. From here there are reliable train services in all four directions. For longer stays, we recommend to borrow a rental car to achieve the many points of interest with ease and independence. Car rental can be hired at the airport or in Viseu, 45 km from our place. We advice to do your research first, before driving on Portuguese toll roads! As founders and organizers of the Academy of Martial Arts and Yoga (Doyo) we also invite you to participate in the ongoing local courses in Tábua, as YOGA or TAEKWON-DO. At the Quinta Bamboo the private lessons in YOGA, TAEKWON-DO or flow WING CHUN. individual or in small groups, are designed so that each participant can develop an individual practice according to his own potential.
